    FG137,

McGrady is a young star (20) with amazing potential. He plays like Kevin Garnett, and get's 2 blocks in limited minutes. He can shoot from the outside, and can handle the ball despite being 6'10.

    -Elie17

You need to pay more attention to this young fella, he's got game.

He is a great young talent like Elie#17 says. However, 3 problems:

    1. He's a free agent this summer, will ask for max, and has had under the table talks with Orlando.

    2. It will cost us Mobley or our Lotto pick which isn't worth it.

    3. He's about money more than loyalty.

    FG137:

Those stats are purdy good considering he only plays 20-25 min a game. Imagine those stats if he got 40-45 min.

I've got to hand it to you:

The trade threads have been intense for the last two months, but your 5 question marks in your title really made me rethink my position.

Actually, McGrady was hyped when he was entering high school. He and Vince Carter did not even know they were cousins until later - I think when McGrady turned pro two years ago.

McGrady has many intriguing and positive characteristics.

He's young, he's very athletic and can jump out of the building, he's a good ball handler at his height (6'8" not 6'10"), at 6'8" he's the perfect size for a SF (which is probably our biggest need)

He does come with some negatives too though:

He seems to be arrogant, he seems to want more credit than he's earned, he wants a big paycheck, he hasn't really excelled at any one aspect of the game.

But, if we could keep Francis, Anderson, Thomas, and Cato, then getting McGrady would give us a great young core to build with. We'd still need some players, but if we're not going to be getting Duncan or G. Hill, then I'd be happy with Tracy, if we only lost Mobley and Drew and change.

    REMd00d,

I haven't really watched McGrady play much, but check out his blocks/game (1.89). That's an incredible number for a small forward-type who's only playing 26.9 mins/game. To put this in perspective, that's almost identical to what Kelvin Cato is averaging in about 23 minutes/game, but from the center position. And Kelvin's supposed to be a shot-blocking demon. I know... only one stat, but the first time I saw that, it's what jumped out at me.

    M.D. of T.D.,

You know, it took me a while to decipher REMdood... REMdude, would've been easier.

1.89 blks in 27min is good. For a SF, it's very good, so he's done very well in one category. Heck, I want the guy on our team. But, only if we know that he'll stick around and not leave after one year.

McGrady would be a perfect compliment for Francis and he would be able to pick up the scoring slack from Anderson. This guy might be the best three in the league with some experience and pt. Either way, the Rox are not going to land this guy without seriously hurting our rebuilding plans.

I think he means Arthur Rimbaud, a GREAT french writer in the 1800's. (Hope he is not insinuating this is a rockets "Season in Hell") [IMG]

    Who said he is 6'10"?

That guy is not 6'10". Unless he grew a couple inches since December.

I've seen him live twice now. He didn't strike me as taller than Vince. Can anyone else add a live sighting remark? I don't even think he is 6'8".

    BobFinn*,

Actually, I think what Dr ODed, meant when he wrote REMd00d, was 'R.E.M dude' or 'Rapid Eye Movement dude'. It was a play on my moniker - 'DREAMer'. Because it is during REM that one dreams.

Puns and plays on words are probably my favorite and most used forms of humor. But, what was throwing me off was his spelling of d00d. He used ZEROs instead of Os and mispelled (intentionally) dude, or spelled it phonetically, however you want to say it. It's not like it took me hours of intensive painstaking(?) research to figure it out, just that it took me a couple of minutes of looking at it.

Okay, how far off topic have I just gone?

My bad DREAMer, I thought he was reffering to Rimbaud's post.

Ok, Mcgrady is not going to come here. Even if we trade for him, I seriously doubt that he would stay here with us. He GREW UP IN FLORIDA! And Orlando's got a couple of BILLION dollars to sign some top of the line free agents. I'm almost positive that he'll go there because he'll be back in his home state, plus he will have other talented players around him due to the amount of money Orlando has to sign newer people.
