As part of Tracy’s commitment to helping refugees in the Darfur region, Tracy has joined up with the Enough project and a couple of NBA stars to launch his Sister School Project. The project aims to pair up American middle schools, high schools, and universities with students in the refugee camps. US schools and students are encouraged to raise money to help support those in Darfur, while also sharing stories and making connections with the students there. Student’s, teachers, as well as groups and clubs are all invited to join the program and start making a difference today! Click here to get involved! The following is a from the Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools team captains Tracy McGrady, Baron Davis, and Derek Fisher. Welcome to the Darfur Dream Team Sister Schools program! We, the co-Captains of the Darfur Dream Team, are writing to ask you to join a cause that unites us because of its urgency. We would like you to help us give a quality education to every refugee child from the war-torn region of Darfur, which the United Nations has dubbed the worst humanitarian emergency in the world. A diverse group of organizations and individuals have joined together to create this team that will link middle schools, high schools, and universities all over the United States with schools in 12 refugee camps serving children from Darfur. After he returned from his trip to from the Darfuri refugee camps with John Prendergast and Omer Ismail of the Enough Project, Tracy McGrady told us personal stories of the refugees he met. The Darfuri refugee children want an education, but often cannot receive one because the schools in the camps do not have the tools or resources they need. After listening to stories of their struggles and learning more about the crisis, we joined together as part of the Darfur Dream Team to help the children of Darfur and also raise awareness about the crisis in our communities in the United States. We are asking you to join the program and take action in any way you can in order to help provide a better education for Darfuri refugee children, and to give students in the United States and Chad a chance to build relationships and learn about each others’ lives. You can learn more about how to contribute here. For as little as $82 per refugee student, you can take immediate action to provide the Darfuri students with a quality education. If Darfuri refugee children in Chad have access to a solid education, they will be better equipped to become leaders in their communities and eventually return home to create a lasting peace in Darfur. We look forward to your involvement in the weeks and months ahead. If we work together, our efforts can and will make a meaningful difference. Sincerely, Baron Davis, Los Angeles Clippers Derek Fisher, Los Angeles Lakers Tracy McGrady, Houston Rockets
I'm a horrible person for thinking this, but when I read the title, I really had the impression that this was a thread poking fun at Tmac for being a girl.. great effort, nontheless, but cue the "he should be rehabbing!!11!one!" posts in 3..2...1
Any "Rookies" with Tracy jokes will be "jumped in" by Clutch and the gang... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KgbAbrV9K0A&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KgbAbrV9K0A&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
and yeah, he should have been rehabbing! Sleep, FOOD, time for your wife and kids? Seriously Tracy? You should be rehabbing... 24/7.
So, Tracy cannot help people overseas and stuff? He should be rehabbing? The dude can take time out of his schedule to help launch something that can benefit the world... Some people are so selfish. [HTown]
OH MY GOD TRACEE LADY NEEDS TO BE REHABBING!!!!!11`1. THE OTHER DAY HE WAS TAKING A ****!!! HE HAS TO REHAB SO WE COULD TRADFE HIM FOR AN EXPIRING CONTRACT!!!! T-MAC fr. DUNLEAVY AND MURPHY! He IS SO LAZY AND SUCH A BAD PERSON!!!!
That's great. Obviously the NBA has noticed what T-Mac has done. Now B-Diddy and Fisher has joined him.
I don't know if you guys caught the half time segment a couple of games ago or not, but apparently a bunch of students doing a study from some university in the midwest came over to interview Deke, Yao and Mac for their humanitarian work overseas. One of the students said that when he did research on the most charitable athletes around the world, he was surprised that three of them were on the same team (Rockets). I don't know about you, but I take it as a badge of honor. We have three players who are on the 'who's who' list of professional athletes that are making a real impact beyond our borders. No matter what happens on the court, I am extremely proud of their efforts.
