Wonder if our winning streak has anything to do with it. The fans sure seem to be more into than before. Good for us.

I was at the game tonight, my first of the season. I had read the comments about the lower bowl being empty from previous games, and was amazed to see how many seats in the mid court, lower tier were empty. The upper levels and behind the baskets were full and loud.

The problem is, and this holds true for Texans game also, that the corporate high dollar season ticket holders are not fans of the game. They hold the best seats in the house, but have no interest in the game itself. The club level is a networking zone, not a fan zone. And unfortunately, these are the seats that could produce the most noise, But the average fan will never get to sit in them. They are priced way out of a normal individual's price range. The marketing of professional sports defeats the purpose of have a loud, enthusiastic home crowd advantage.

So, the point of my rant is - don't get down on the fans. It is the fault of the Rockets and their marketing strategy that there are so many lower level empty seats.

When I was a little kid about 10 or so years ago my dad's boss gave him some tickets he wasn't gonna use for a rockets game, so I sat with my dad down in the lower bowl. Yelled my lungs out the whole game screaming at the refs, while a buncha dudes in ties kept looking back at me saying "they can't hear you, I think you should yell louder." at me. So I did.

Nowadays I realized they were just being sarcastic dickwhads who only care about lobbying or whatever.. That about sums up the lower bowl.

we won 14 straight, and they're still not coming. Houston is filled with a bunch of bandwagon ass cats...It's a baseball city. They'll fill up minute maid even with a bad baseball team.

Its true. This used to be a basketball city. How quickly they forget. Same bunch of kumquats that bid the Oilers good riddance with no regrets.

    Lol what??

Who all went to the game tonighT??

I did and was amazed by the turn out! There was easily tons more people for this scrub team (grizz) than there was when lebron came to town!

On top of the people actually filling majority of their seats, the thread title is right, the crowd's volume has increased immensely as well (which anyone would figure if you have more people)

This city isn't a baseball city; it's a bandwagon city that supports a winner only. The astros were in the world series a couple of seasons ago and that is still fresh in people's minds. A couple more seasons like last year and the fan support will dwindle down. This city becomes a basketball city when the Rockets start advancing in the playoffs or it becomes a football city when the Texans do the same. The city of Houston is full of bandwagoners and that is the unfortunate fact.

if yall think that was loud something is wrong with your ears. I still cant believe that turnout for the "lebron game" was a record for TC. There were empty seats in the lower bowl everywhere. People are buying tickets, but not showing up. The top bowl is almost always near-full. I'm unimpressed. Call me when it's so called loud on a Monday or Tuesday night.

It is a bandwagon city. No doubt. I got these people coming up and talkin to me about the rockets, and im thinkin "where were you in December? Why werent we talkin rockets back then?"
It's ridiculous. But, I still think it's a baseball town. This city has sold out Astros games even when they were bad. I'm not complaining cuz that's a good thing. I wish they would support the Rockets like that though. The ticket prices might be a reason for that, but the Rockets ticket prices are fairly low compared to other teams. As for football, I guess we'll find out this year if games will be blacked out....Bob McNair only guarenteed sell outs for the first 5 years right?

If the seats are empty, that doesnt mean the tickets havent been bought.

Those lower empty seats are by Business CEOs who occasionaly want to watch the rockets.

or they come just to have a conversation with their family or co-workers, without caring if the rockets win or lose. i would know, because i got free seats 7 rows behind the court, (my dad's cousin, is a camera guy for the rockets) and a bunch of people in business suit were in front of me. they showed no excitement anytime during the game, except for the timeout shows.

    oh my god

I find it hillarious how EXTREMELY LOUD it gets when they're tossing out t-shirts. when the game starts again you can hear the 15 people chanting defense. You can hear a pin drop. A couple of years ago the crowd would randomly get loud, and i'd wonder why....Then i'd find out cuz of the free big mac. We hit 100 points. They care more about that kinda crap then the actual game.

Every time they appear on TV, they appear with their cell phones in hand. Why even bother going? It sucks that the real fans hardly ever get the opportunity to sit in those (often) empty seats.

there were some groups out there.

mainly little ten year old girls who had no clue what the hell was going on. Just screaming and screeching their heads off.

I watched some of the replay last night, and that is what i heard come through the tv.
