I've gotta get my beloved Mustang towed to the shop. It is currently sitting in my driveway. Without a wreck on the side of the road and the cops involved, I've had a hell of a time finding a wrecker. I don't have AAA or anything like that.

The only towing company I could think of off the top of my head was Apple towing, but they can't be here until I will have already gone to work, and I want to get to the shop with the car. I had to postpone this operation until Monday.

I've Googled and tried the yellow pages, but no one could be here until about 2-3 hours. Now, EVERY DAMN TIME I've ever been in or seen a wreck, there are seemingly a limitless supply of wreckers waiting around like vultures. Christ, when I got arrested about 12 years ago more tow trucks (4) showed up than polics cars (3), and THERE WASN'T EVEN A VEHICLE INVOLVED!!!!

Why in the world can I not get a wrecker within a decent amount of time? What the HELL am I missing here? I'd love some feedback about this as well as reputable wrecker services.

I will only deal with flat-bed tow trucks.

    Thank you.

I'm towing it to Houston Performance on 249 just inside the Beltway. They referred me to Apple, who I'd already heard of. They also said they really don't deal with towing companies due to wreckers bring the cars to them, not the other way around.

some cell phone plans come with roadside assistance included and people don't even know about it, you might wanna check that if you haven't already

i used to work at AAA....since you don't have AAA, you can still contact them and tell them you're not a member and that you'll be paying out of pocket...as a general courtesy, they'll usually provide you with a tow truck, just make sure to request a flat bed...you'll actually get better service this way, because most wreckers have negotiated rates with companies like ausrion or AAA and make more money if the customer is paying out of pocket...also, ask if they'll call around for you to find you the cheapest one....1-800-AAA-Help
