I remember that to rent George R Brown Convention Center for one night it was around $12K. So for a brand new stadium it would probably be around $150K? ------------------ Is HeyDude really Heypartner?
$12k? That's it? Are you sure? That's pretty cheap. Well, of course it's a lot of money, but I would think it'd be far more expensive. ------------------ Yugo grills, Yugo mills, Check out the oil my Yugo spills...
hmm 12K is pretty cheap. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
what is the george rbrown convention center?? it is much smaller than a football/baseball stadium right?? I need a stadium and even 150k sounds cheap. anyone else know anything, or mayve who to contact? I am in NY, so i know nothing about houston ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
I would start by contacting The Houston Visitors and Convention Bureau. I'm sure they are listed. good luck rH ------------------ visit: The Psychedelic Groove House of Rockets Basketball Love! My mosque used to rent george r brown for special events. I am pretty sure it was $12K for one nite, but I could be wrong. Why do you need to know how much the new stadiums costs? are YOU planning on renting one or something? if so...I LOVE YOU MAN! ------------------
Yes I am looking into renting one of them. but I always have big plans. not always have big bucks and dont events like monster truck rallys use stadiums?? it cant be that much money(less than a mill) ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
For the Astrodome or Reliant Stadium, you would have to contact Harris County, NOT the convention and visitors bureau of Houston. Reliant is in the county, not the city. For Enron Field, you would likely have to contact Enron Field directly through the Astros' offices. George R. Brown is $12K PER ROOM and there are 4 large rooms. It is not big enough for your needs. Is it for an event that requires seating or a convention type thing? What seating capacity do you require? The Astrodome is 70,000! For the Astrodome and complex, contact the Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation. You can find them through Reliant Park at 713-799-9718. For Enron Field or any of the convention facilities in Houston, try: http://www.houston-guide.com/ or http://www.hchsa.org/ Jordy Tollet is the man to speak to at the Convention and Visitors Bureau in Houston. Ask for Linda Mayfield at the Sports Authority. She is the community relations director and can help with just about anything. Best of luck. ------------------ And then, depression set in...
Its for an orgy isn't it? You want to put together a 70,000 person orgy don't you? I am so there. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! The Rockets will be NBA champions. Believe.
http://www.skyball.com/HomeFrame.html this is basicly what I want to do. I really want to do it in the NT area, but I will have to wait for the Yankees to build a domed stadium with natural grass. so I am sending out feelers. I just want to know the numbers so i can run them, and figure out what I have to do to make a profit. thanks, and why am I not suprised that Jeff knew where to go ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
Lets go with these numbers: 300 teams * $600 entry fee = 180,000 10,000 fans * $10 gate fee = 100,000 I don't know if you would get any % of concessions sold onsite. Prizes seem to be mostly donated with some cash prizes put up by the event sponsor/promoter. Paying for misc charges (cash prizes, security, promotion, build and tear down of fixtures, staff etc) we will project at 160,000. That leaves you about 120,000 to pay for the facility. Probably will be charged for 3 days, so you need to pay 40,000 or less per day to reach breakeven on this project. I don't know if you could get a rate that low. If you have more accurate numbers to plug into this, do so. They might have gotten a bit better of a price on things doing it in Canada versus doing it in the US. I have much more accurate numbers and if I gave them all to you than i would have nothing wouldnt I most of the prizes are "donated" as free advertizing. at one event I went to this year Sea doo gave 11 top o the line sea doos. tourney entry is pretty damn accurate, but if you run a pro or open class you charge more like 1000 also 150 teams is a bit much to ask for its first year. sure it will grow, but first year i would expect 100. 100 teams = 500 players. plus 3support/ team(alternates/girlfriends/managers) so 800 people. every team has to buy your paint. a case of paint costs the player 100 costs you near 30 so since most teams shoot 10 cases/tourney that is 1000 cases of paint, and another 70k profit. these tourneys are also tradeshows, and you rent space to the 30-100 vendors that show up at major tourneys. than advertizing in your publications. these events bring around 1500-2000 people to the local area. they ALL stay in hotels they all eat out every night and they all drink heavily. so local business often advertize in the tournament flyers/handbooks/scheduel of events. these numbers are of course completely rough, but there are lots of ways the make more money at an event. video(tv) rights can also make you some decent change. but this is all just extremely light inquirey. hopefully this is in my future. might make some calls tomorrow after work PEACE ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
There were some distinct advantages to helping out on the campaign last year. By the way, I know Linda fairly well and I've spoken to Jordy about 4 or 5 times. Both are great people and extremely helpful. You might want to contact Linda first at lindam@hchsa.org and ask her about what you need. She seems to know everyone and the Sports Authority handles both city and county projects. Tell her I gve you her email. She's helped out several people I've sent her way. Good luck. ------------------ And then, depression set in...
VOR, I hope you don't mind my asking, but what do you need it for? With the money you are willing to spend, you might be able to fetch Compaq Center, and it is probably cheaper. If you need retractable domes, it must be pretty big. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
I have no idea, but I'm pretty sure that George R. Brown costs more than $12,000. My dad was talking to a sponsor for a medical conference he attended, and he said that the price tag was something like $23,000. And over $40,000 for a weekend. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Just FYI -- I doubt you could get Enron Field at all, and probably not Reliant Field (Unless it's right after football season -- spring 2003.) Both places are very picky about their grass, which is expensive to replace and time consuming to grow. They had the George Strait Music festival at Enron, but had special plastic pads that covered the outfield grass -- and the infield was off limits. Reliant field has already expressed that they aren't even interested in college teams sharing the stadium during football season, to protect the grass. You'll probably run into that problem with any Pro natural grass stadium. Astrodome isn't natural grass, but is a good, big, facility, with adjacent convention space. Have you checked into college stadiums? Surely they would be cheaper, and more suitable for this kind of event. I think Rice Stadium and the U of H stadiums both seat 70,000 ish. They aren't domed, but are more likely to play ball. ------------------ Stay Cool...
seating is not at all a concern. it is having a heatd building capable of holding 4+ paintball fields. each being approx 180x100 plus room for staging. so it must be a full sixed baseball or football domed stadium. natural grass is much prefered. I figured Houston to be a good choice because there are 3 potential venues, 2 perfect. and its the #4 population city in the US. it is also kinda in the middle geographicly. although a bit south. so it seems like a southern version of chicago as far as what it will offer me as far as potential. well lunch is over, gotta go PEACE ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
well I just found out that through my research there is already a few months ahead of me on the same idea. its gonna be called Astroball in the astrodome. im gonna look into Miami now ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
The Dome grass isn't natural, but the price is probably right. Mango ------------------ Get it right or just don't do it! Resistance is futile....you will be assimilated.
