Here's the scenario...I'm currently waiting tables taking home about $450-600 a week while looking for a more stable job with benefits. I have been looking for a recruiting job here in Austin ever since I was laid off from my last recruiting job in Houston over a year ago and I now have one being offered to me. The problem is they want to being me on on a temporary basis. They have made it clear they eventually want to bring me on permanently, but need business to pick up before they can make that commitment. Unfortunately they don't know exactly when that will be. Also, the pay really isn't what I need to make ends meet(with that job alone), but they are going to be flexible with my schedule because I want to keep my restaurant job part time. So all in all I still wouldn't have benefits(yet), would end up working more hours for just about the same(~$600/wk) money(with both jobs).

    What would you do?

Is the timeframe for getting a similar job offer elsewhere about the same as for the projected turnaround at the current job offer?

The way the job market is I wouldn't doubt it.

Id take it RP. Experience is what everyone looks for on a resume, and from what you said, it looks like it would be a good opp. even if the pay sucks. The good thing is that they will work with you while you work at Trudy's. That is a big plus that I think other employers may not be able to match.

    Good luck!:D

You coming to the last Aussie Rocketball game tomorrow nite???

I did the same thing when I was in Houston. I bartended at Dave and Busters and worked in a full time job too.

Eventually, the full time job took over and I had to quit bartending.

I say go for it, but don't stop looking.

Depends. In this job market, maybe it's a good thang just to get your foot in the door and keep your eyes open.

    Good luck, bro'.
