i know there are a lot of folks into crazy music on this board. Touch & Go is having it's 25th anniversary block party in chicago at the hideout. the list of bands is pretty impressive (esp. if you were into more of an "underground" scene in the 80s/early 90s.) the lineup includes a reunion of Texas punk rock icons, Scratch Acid (who later formed the Jesus Lizard.) http://www.touchandgorecords.com/ pitchfork has updates as well: Touch & Go Add !!!, Quasi, GVSB to Block Party Kati Llewellyn reports: Touch and Go's big-ass birthday party just got a lot bigger (and a lot asser?) Yesterday, the Chicago label announced that its 25th Anniversary Block Party, taking place September 8-10 at Chicago's Hideout, will feature reunion sets from Girls Against Boys, Killdozer, and Man...or Astroman?-- all original members!-- as well as Negative Approach (featuring John Brannon and OP Moore). !!!, Quasi, the New Year, Shipping News, Three Mile Pilot, Uzeda, Pegboy, the Ex, Seam, and Supersystem have also been added to the blowout. As previously reported, Calexico, CocoRosie, Enon, Ted Leo/Pharmacists, Pinback, the Black Heart Procession, Shellac, and both the reunited Scratch Acid and the reunited Didjits are scheduled to perform at the event, which benefits local charities Tuesday's Child, Literacy Works, and the Thomas Drummond Elementary School. The newly announced acts take the Block Party's band count up to 23. In the following weeks, T&G will bring it home with the unveiling of two more artists, making for a grand total of 25 bands. ('Cause that's how old they are.) Let's guess who they are! Urge Overkill and Silverfish? Reunited Don Caballero and reunited (again) Slint? That is pretty cool. I think I still have my Killdozer cassettes packed away somewhere. I should dust them off, and see if I can listen to them without the machine eating the old tape.
