I voted that yes he will make the HOF, but I don't think that he should . Then again, as Halls of Fame gets more and more inclusive, I'll feel this way more and more. To me, a Hall of Famer should have a period of at least 4-5 years where they were among the elite in the league. The best way for me to tell has always been the "smell test." That being if someone were to ask you if a given player was a Hall of Famer, you would be able to answer without having to think about it. For me, Torry Holt was a no. Not to get too far off the beaten path, but Andre Dawson was a no for the baseball hall of fame for me.
I doubt it. Art Monk had to wait forever. Tim Brown has 1000+ catches and 100 TDs and he is iffy to get in. Cris Carter and Andre Reed still aren't in either.
From 2000-2005, he got 1,300+ receiver yards. SIX seasons of 1,300+ yard seasons. From 2000-20005, he was absolutely considered a top 3 WR in the NFL. Holt defines consistency, he is a shoe in for the HOF. He also has a superbowl ring on top of everything
Isaac Bruce's numbers are significantly better, and his career lasted much longer. Holt is kind of like a Jimmy Smith or Rod Smith to me. Somebody who was a great, consistent receiver... but ultimately didn't have the career stats to achieve HOF greatness.
Receiver prejudice. Carter and Brown not being in is ridiculous. There seems to be this rule where you have to win a super bowl. Their careers have vast exceeded the numbers of Alsworth/Swann/Irvin(Recent receivers that have got in with far less impressive numbers).
