    Torres Cut

    Just announced on 610!

Oscar Torres and I believe Steve Goodrich were cut today.

    Thoughts?

I'm not sure I like this move, but I guess that means Hawkings has a spot.

Oscar is a stud. Some other team is lucky to have him if this is the case!

Very disappointed to hear this, Oscar was playing really well this preseason, Rudy should've given him another chance.

I wonder if Hawkins is starting to gain ground on Tierre and Tito.

Wow! OT is gone. I guess that gives Hawkins the inside track to make the team as the back up 2. I guess Colliers job might be safe another year also.

That is crazy to cut OT before some of the other camp fodders. It may be a numbers game or whatever, but Torres can & has contributed to this team so a spot on the Inactive List is the worst that I thought would happen.

If the roster is down to 15, then we don't have to cut anyone else.

DAMN IT!! We have no backup SG now. Oscar is going to be a good player. What were the Rockets thinking?

Hawkins is taller. And I always thought Torres's defense was wild like a screaming Hawk.

    Hawk Hawk

I'll take the real Hawk-ins. Torres is fine, but is dime a dozen. He just seemed like a gunner. He hardly ever passed. Hawkins seems like he knows his place is defense, and that he loves it. Plus, looks like his got that junkyard dog ability to score like Carlos Rogers.

Oscar wasn't really impressing me. I think we're better off with a guy (Hawkins) who knows that he's supposed to be defensively minded. We don't need offense from this slot.

For those keeping track, that leaves the roster at:

    10 Tierre Brown
    13 Kelvin Cato
    52 Jason Collier
    3 Steve Francis
    33 Eddie Griffin
    4 Juaquin Hawkins
    6 Tito Maddox
    Pete Mickeal
    5 Cuttino Mobley
    44 Terrence Morris
    9 Bostjan Nachbar
    12 Moochie Norris
    41 Glen Rice
    2 Maurice Taylor
    21 Kenny Thomas
    11 Yao Ming

16 guys. One more must be cut in the next week.

That's too bad. I liked Torres a lot. He seemed fundamentally sound (way better than Mooch or Cato), worked hard, and made good defensive decisions.

The poor guy seemed jinxed at times, when he finally got into the game. A quick foul, a turnover, somebody would miss his pass, etc. I hope he catches on with another team, and gets more PT.

Without a doubt. Hawkins is a better skilled player than OT but I would really like to have him on the Rosters and cut Maddox instead.

Ditto to KALIKULI. I'm sorry for Torres, but psyched for Hawkins. They've still got to cut Mickeal to get down to 15, don't they?
