Let this be a lesson to all small children not to throw a tantrum. I'll be telling my children this story anytime they start with that BS.

I just don't get how anyone thought bringing a 5 year old boy into a home with a 150 pound bull mastiff was a good idea regardless of what the owner thought of the dog's temperment up until then. It truly is tragic but seems like it could have been avoided with a little more thought. fact...we know dogs kill kids in home environments all the time and dog behavior can be unpredictable.

Damn, bullmastiffs are some of the strongest dogs I have seen. I got one.

There's no right/wrong nor is there any blame to be placed. Just a sad story overall.

Sad. And surprising about the Mastiff. They're usually really laid back.

Yeah, my parents had two (one was sick and had to be put down), but both of them were the nicest, calmest dogs I've ever been around, with the exception of my neighbor's pit/great dane mix.

    Sad story.

I can't imagine one biting, perhaps smothering the child, but biting. Wow.

I hate when kids throw a temper tantrum but he didn't deserve this. Poor dog will probably be put down for protecting its owner.

Dogs are evil. I was once bitten on the back by my friend's dog for playing mortal kombat 3 on supernintendo.

Sounds like the owners tried to let the dog free so he wouldn't have to be put down. Probably ended up coming back home.

Srsly? The dog is done for.

Personally I don't let my pitbull around any kid. I don't know why they would let a 150lb dog roam around freely with a child. I don't care what anyone says, animals are unpredictable at times just like humans.

Thank you for not being like the usual delusional dog owner.
