Now with Steph gone from the western Conference. Would anyone say that Stevie is the top pg over bibby, nash, payton, etc. Or do you think he still has alot to go to be the definate top pg in the west. My personal opinion is that he is among the best if not the best in the western conf but its scary to think, for everyone else that is, that he still has more room to improve his game to a higher level. Also on another note. How do you think the two new players on the Rockets line up are going to fit in the rockets game. What can they provide for the team that we lost in other players like mooch and eddie. Just wanted to get other rocket fans insite on the situtaion.
I never knew that sam could that good!!! Man that was awsome in that game on Sat. where just shot the lights out. They should of utilized him more. He is a dangerous scoring threat. But sam is on his bottom half of his carear, while steve his at the top half.
True that sam is close to the bottom but i still think that he has alot of talent left to go for quite awhile.
I love Sam's midrange game, it opens up so many things for his team. Francis isn't the best in the West right now, maybe 2nd or 3rd. However, it's important to note that he hasn't played his best ball yet. As for our new additions, we can comment on them once they start playing. I don't think any of them have stepped on the court yet, right? Ultimately, I think Spoon and Mark Jackson are betetr than Mooch and Eddie.
The thing about Sam is that he doesn't do it with athletism. He's never had a great first step or speed. He just manages to get the ball in the hoop and find the open man. He could play like this for a long time.
Sam Cassell is averaging 20+ points, 50% fg, 40% 3P, with 7+ assists. I read somewhere that the last time someone did that was larry bird. You can manipulate stats to link people to all time greats, but still those are great stats. I rate Nash and Payton over Francis as a point guard. I think if we could borrow Nash or Payton for a few games and give them Francis as collateral you'd the the Rockets' offense putting up more points. However, I am pretty low on Mike Bibby and Tony Parker. They are overrated in my book. Put a Jamaal Crawford or a Kirk Hinrich on those two teams and they are doing the same things. Steve is a top 3 PG, but he's out of position. He is the second best GUARD in the conference after Kobe. (I hope I didn't forget someone obvious but it's damn late)
I partially agree that poll result. I will take Sam, Nash over Francis, but not Payton, he is way over his peak.
Agreed. As for point gaurd I would have to go with Sam I am, with Nash and Andre as close seconds. Francis is still third with Jwill as my fourth best PG. I guess you have figured out I hate Bibby
A guy with a consistent midrange jumper like Sammy will be in the league a long time. Look at Eddie Johnson. He managed to play for quite some time since he was always good at outside shooting. If Matt Bullard could still keep up with the NBA pace, I think he'd still be wearing a uniform.
No question about that. And he is a better playmaker at this point than Steve. But I wouldn't trade Steve for him. I wouldn't trade Steve for any other PG in this league right now. I still believe that Steve is going to play better and be the dominant PG in this league in years to come.
I gotta agree with everone else that Sam Cassell is the best PG right now in the West. I love Francis but Cassell not only deserves to be in the All Star Game he deserves to start over Francis.
Better POINT GUARDS than Francis, WC (random order): Carlos Arroyo Raul Lopez Steve Nash Andre Miller Sam Cassell Jason Williams Brent Barry Antonio Daniels Gary Payton Earl Boykins Mike Bibby Damon Stoudamire Charlie Ward Nick Van Exel Tony Parker Marko Jaric Luke Ridnour Bobby Jackson
Steve is a great Basketball Player not a very good Point Guard. Depending on his mind set in the vast time and space of the Game.
Steve is no way better than TMac and Pierce. He is not the second best guard in the league after Kobe!
