Anyone else here still really love this movie? I watched it on TV the other night (twice…) and all these years later, it still does it for me. The dogfight scenes are still unmatched in cinema IMO, even 23 years after they were filmed. Gooses death still gets to me. Highway to the Danger Zone still gets my adrenaline pumping. And of course, my favorite scene: "You!! You are still dangerous.....(smiles)..You can be my wingman any time." "Bull****. You can be mine." Spoiler
I still like the movie. <div style="width:300px;"><object width="300" height="110"><param name="movie" value="http://media.imeem.com/m/bZl5oyT2y5/aus=false/"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://media.imeem.com/m/bZl5oyT2y5/aus=false/" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="300" height="110" wmode="transparent"></embed></object><div style="background-color:#E6E6E6;padding:1px;"><div style="float:left;padding:4px 4px 0 0;"><a href="http://www.imeem.com/"><img src="http://www.imeem.com/embedsearch/E6E6E6/" border="0" /></a></div><form method="post" action="http://www.imeem.com/embedsearch/" style="margin:0;padding:0;"><input type="text" name="EmbedSearchBox" /><input type="submit" value="Search" style="font-size:12px;" /><div style="padding-top:3px;"><a href="http://www.imeem.com/ads/banneradclick.ashx?ep=0&ek=bZl5oyT2y5" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://www.imeem.com/ads/bannerad/152/10/" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.imeem.com/ads/banneradclick.ashx?ep=1&ek=bZl5oyT2y5" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://www.imeem.com/ads/bannerad/153/10/" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.imeem.com/ads/banneradclick.ashx?ep=2&ek=bZl5oyT2y5" rel="nofollow"><img src="http://www.imeem.com/ads/bannerad/154/10/" border="0" /></a><a href="http://www.imeem.com/ads/banneradclick.ashx?ep=3&ek=bZl5oyT2y5" rel="nofollow" ><img src="http://www.imeem.com/ads/bannerad/155/10/bZl5oyT2y5/" border="0" /></a></div></form></div></div><br/><a href="http://www.imeem.com/people/Aiw4IW/music/BDqDU6a-/harold-faltermeyer-top-gun-anthem/">Top Gun Anthem - Harold Faltermeyer</a> DD
I wouldn't say I still "really love" the movie, but I enjoy it still, and will watch it if it's on.
still love the movie. It was better when I was uneducated though. I get tired of people telling me the scene where goose dies is impossible because the canopy would be long gone before goose would have hit it. It's a movie people!! I downloaded it in HD for my movie collection though. Still some of the best flying scenes around. So much better when its not blatant CGI
I've never watched it but I guess it's one of those 80's movies considered classics now that I need to. I mean I just watched E.T. for the first time a couple months ago.
I'm guessing that's where your moniker came from? SO true. I wonder if we'll ever see this kind of movie making again. Why would directors bother when CGI is so much easier and less expensive. Kind of sad, actually. Top Gun = the last of it's kind.
I'm with you. I was in Jr. High when it came out and was convinced that I was going to be a pilot, er.....naval aviator after high school. The only thing I don't get it is....why Kelly McGillis? She's fugly if you ask me. They definitely should have gotten Elizabeth Shue for that role. When it's on TV, I drive my wife crazy because I can literally quote (almost) the whole movie. Sad, but true.
Do you think they'll ever remake Top Gun but this time use all kinds of CGI and special effects, everything that you guys seem to think makes the first one great?
Action movies for the most part bore me now because most of it isn't real anymore. Part of the thrill was knowing that these actors put themselves in danger's way to give you what you see on the screen. the WOW factor is gone because you know there was no physical feat that was achieved. When I was young I wanted to be the one in the car flying over other cars or the one running away from the exploding building. I didn't want to be the one imagining on a green screen.
Where you refering to Kelly McGillis? I was kind of stunned when she came out. But yes its got to be the real planes, with no animated bullcrap, or just the right things at the right time period. Its funny this movie got cheesy reviews.

I don't think it should even be qualified as a guilty pleasure. As much as Tom Cruise has become a laughingstock, this movie remains bulletproof. If all of my movies were stolen from me, this would be one I'd absolutely replace, no question.
Not my favorite flick, but fun, for sure. Got this and Days of Thunder together cheap in Blu-ray, and awesome is a good word to describe watching them in HD and HD sound!
my whole life...until just now...i thought mister kenny loggins (who rocked a sweet mullet) was saying, "I went to the Danger Zone..." not "highway to the Danger Zone." TOP GUNOWNED by Kenny.
