Instead of the trading threads, could we start a thread of which players will be the top five players you would like to pick in the Rox team, let say the begining from the dream area to now.
I am not making my teams based on talent, but based on how well they would perform with each other. First team: C Hakeem PF Barkley (healthy) SF Jim Jackson SG Clyde PG Kenny Smith Second team: C Yao PF Otis Thorpe SF Vernon Maxwell SG Cuttino PG Francis The first team has a bunch of talent and could definitely win a lot of games. The second team I think would be the top contender for a title (assuming Yao develops and becomes around a 21/11 player) There is lots of defense and scoring. Otis brings the tough banger play at PF next to Yao.
Okay, your second team would no way be a better contender than the first. The first team would own the second every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
C Yao Ming PF Hakeem Olajuwon SF Charles Barkley SG Clyde Drexler PG Sam Cassell Backups: PG: Francis SG: Mobley SF: Horry PF: Ralph Sampson C: Moses Malone plus Calvin Murphy, Otis Thorpe
Hakeem OT Horry Maxwell Smith or Hakeem Horry Elie Drexler Smith There are no other combinations to discuss as far as I am concerned.
Ok fine. - I forgot the thread starter said from Hakeem on. So.. I get to use Sampson. I get Lucas. I get Clyde. I guess I'll say Horry, to get the big men the ball and shoot the 3. Hakeem Sampson Horry Clyde Lucas
Hakeem Sampson Clyde Elie Francis Mo Malone Chuckie Horry Mobley Cassell (if he was as good with the Rockets as he became then make him first teamer!)
From 1984 to now...I'd pick... C Hakeem Olajuwon PF Ralph Sampson SF Jim Jackson (edged out Lewis Lloyd) SG Clyde Drexler PG Sam Cassell From 1971 to now...I'd pick... C Hakeem Olajuwon PF Moses Malone SF Elvin Hayes SG Clyde Drexler PG Sam Cassell (edged out John Lucas)
Well, if you used Dream's first season as the cut-off mark... C - Yao SF - Dream PF - Sampson(or Barkley if you count his prime years too) SG - Drexler PG - Francis I'd put Lucas in place of Francis if this team actually has to play, since Lucas is definitely a better "point guard" than Stevie. Also, it's pretty amazing that we've never had a top-notch SF on this team for so long.
