Everyone has grown up watching the team in different eras, I started out in the Calvin Murphy, Rudy T, Mike Newlin, era....around 1972.....and have watched them since....it may be hard, but here are my top favorite Rocket players of all time. These don't necessarily need to be the BEST players, but just your favorite.

    1. Hakeem
    2. Rudy T
    3. Yao Ming
    4. Luis Scola
    5. Calvin Murphy

Honorable mentions: Moses Malone, Shane Battier, Bob Sura, Mike Newlin, Robert Horry, Mario Elie, John Lucas, Lewis Lloyd, James Harden, Tracy McGrady.

Hakeem - He is just the greatest Rocket of all time - and one of the best to ever lace them up, gave it his all on both ends, and was also a humble man who is a community leader as well. Simply the best.

Rudy T - He gets here because of his play and his coaching, if it was just his play, he probably would not be on my list, but this is a Rocket's list and his coaching abilities have to be considered. He was great as a player and a coach.

Yao Ming - Man, he left too early, he was such a great player, and once he adopted to the NBA game - was amazing to watch - so good on both ends, and his career was cut short. Loved everything about this guy, and his effort was off the charts.

Luis Scola - EFFORT....HUSTLE.....EFFORT - seeing a pattern here, every one of my favorite players plays hard all the time - Luis Scola was incredible and smart - just an efficient, good player, who hustled all the time, loved watching him play.

Calvin Murphy - many on here only see him as the guy wearing the shiny suits, but back in the day he was mighty might - a guy who was a KILLER on the court and believe it or not an ENFORCER on it. Just as competitive as they come and a joy to watch. Hall of famer for sure.

Now there might be some I am forgetting - or are better overall players...TMac, Harden, Malone etc....but this is a list of your favorites, not the best.....so who are your 5 favorite Rockets players of all time?

Not having James Harden in a top 5 player list for this franchise should go well.

Hakeem is the reason this kid from Pittsburgh somehow ended up a diehard Houston Rockets fan. A story I’ve proudly told hundreds of times.

And I’m literally hardcore rooting for the Nets right now, so there’s not a chance Harden wouldn’t be in my top 3.

I would put him in the top 5 Rocket's players list of all time based upon abilities.....but not on my favorites list.

Born in 95’ so wasn’t able to experience the Dream era.

    Favorite Rockets:
    Tracy McGrady
    Aaron Brooks
    Yao Ming
    Luis Scola
    Goran Dragic

And I know this isn’t part of the question, but my favorite coach by far was Rick Adelman. Most underrated coach ever.

    1. Dream
    2. Yao
    3. Harden
    4. T-Mac
    5. Ralph

Obviously, I like the guys who do jaw-dropping ****. Stevie and Moses would be in my top 10. And Sammy Bigballs because no stage was too big for him.

(Rudy not considered because he wasn't one of my favorite Rockets players.)
