Been seeing a lot of these "Top of the decade" Lists lately. Although some people would correct them and say the real decade begins in 2001 and runs through 2010... 09 seems like a more appropriate year to end with. My list is personal preference of course, there are still a lot of movies I have yet to see. Post your own Top 10. 1.) No Country For Old Men 2.) Donnie Darko 3.) Memento 4.) The Dark Knight 5.) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 6.) Knocked Up 7.) The Departed 8.) Garden State 9.) Snatch 10.) Gran Torino
Fun thread. Somehow this never got taken seriously as an "important movie," but I'd nominate: The Prestige.
In no particular order 1) Fight Club 2)The Matrix 3)Eternal sunshine 4)Lord of the Rings Trilogy 5) The Dark Knight 6)Finding Nemo 7)Donnie Darko 8)The Departed 9)40 year old virgin 10)Snatch
not in order... lost in translation the fountain waking life eternal sunshine team america: world police no country for old men gladiator wall-e memento garden state
hard for me to put them in order so except there was a clear #1 i would say for me #1 LOTR trilogy (will lump all 3 films together since its the same story) memento collectively the harry potter films (yeah i like them and the books--go figure!) gladiator crouching tiger kill bill vol 1 children of men oldboy the wrestler dark knight
(nitpick) Both of these came out in 1999. I agree with you though, Fight Club is quite possibly the best movie ever. Agree entirely. I loved that movie and so many other people hated it for some reason. It just barely missed the cut for my Top 10 list, along with V for Vendetta, Shaun of the Dead, Amelie, A Scanner Darkly, The Wrestler, There Will Be Blood, Star Trek, 500 Days of Summer.
i like lists... off the top of my head, in no particular order... band of brothers (hbo) eternal sunshine of the spotless mind the dark knight inglorious bastards kill bill john adams (hbo) open range - very underrated western epic tropic thunder apocalypto lord of the rings there will be blood slumdog millionaire casino royale ong-bak (or the protector) - tony jaa moves are always fun! shawn of the dead # 256,291 - indiana jones and the crystal skull EDIT: how could i forget team america: world police??? movie of the decade? Spoiler f*** yeah!!!
Damn, on the Cusp of the decade. They just don't remind me of 90's movies. they changed the way movies are made now.
I just watched Fight Club last night, only the 2nd time I had seen it. I saw it about 5 years ago and I liked it, but viewing it again now was like a spiritual experience. So. ****ing. Good.
The Royal Tenenbaums The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford Shawn of the Dead Eternal Sunshine The Departed Dirty Pretty Things There Will Be Blood The Proposition The Darjeeling Limited Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Strange. I haven't watch fight club in about 5 years, but I watched it last night and then I saw this thread today and Moes said he also watched it last night. Strange.
My favorites: Adywan - Star Wars Revisited Dark Knight 310 to Yuma Gladiator Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Revenge of the Sith Napoleon Dynamite Star Trek Iron Man Batman Begins
1.) Mulholland Drive 2.) Children of Men 3.) Black Hawk Down 4.) City of God 5.) There Will Be Blood 6.) United 93 7.) About Schmidt 8.) Dark Knight 9.) Crouching Tiger 10.) No Country For Old Men ...and because I can't follow directions 11.) High Fidelity 12.) Amores Perros 13.) Minority Report 14.) Mystic River 15.) Eternal Sunshine 16.) Spirited Away 17.) Sideways 18.) Ghost World 19.) Memento 20.) Knocked Up EDIT: Just realized my list sucks. Other people's lists are reminding me of movies I like better than many of these. Forgot about Tenenbaums, LOTR trilogy (I don't know how I forgot), etc. It's alot easier with music because I just create a "2000s Smart Playlist" in my iTunes library.
This is too hard an exercise. I have to think of the whole set of movies that came out in the last decade and pick the ten best? Instead, here's a top-10 list of movies that were mentioned in this thread that have no business being in a list of the best movies of the decade (in no particular order): 1) Donnie Darko 2) The Departed 3) Finding Nemo 4) Any Harry Potter film 5) Kill Bill 6) Tropic Thunder 7) Shawn of the Dead 8) 310 to Yuma 9) Any Star Wars film 10) Napoleon Dynamite
Clearly you failed to read the part of the post that said "personal preference". But thanks for your contributions. Now post your pretentious french movies so I can **** all over them.
