Who do you think are the top 10 foreign players who have played in the NBA since the beginning of the NBA? Don't include players who later during their NBA career played for the US national team (Olajuwon, Duncan).

My list so far would be:

    Detlef Schrempf
    Arvydas Sabonis
    Toni Kukoc
(Drazen Petrovic) - career cut short
    Vlade Divac
    Dirk Nowitzki
    Yao Ming
    Steve Nash
    Pau Gasol
    Manu Ginobili
    Andrei Kirilenko

    Yours?

    Ginobili
    Yao
    Dirk
    Parker
    Petrovic
    Schrempf
    Nash
    Mutombo
    AK47
    Gasol

You picked Yao Ming over Rik Smits????? Idiot.

    ;)

Good list. Deke should definitely be on the list and Parker is right there with Manu and AK47.

you have to put dikembe in there. i'd drop kirilenko, whose good but oft-injured, to make room for the cookie monster.

If Mutombo makes the list, so should Olajuwon (Nigeria) and even Tim Duncan (Virgin Islands). Mutombo played college ball at Georgetown. That disqualifies him in my mind. Nash went to Santa Clara, so he's out too. Schrempf went to Washington.

    Here's my list:
    1. Dirk
    2. Yao (he'll surpass Dirk when all all is said and done)
    3. Pau Gasol
    4. Petrovic
    5. Sabonis
    6. Kukoc
    7. Parker
    8. Ginobili
    9. Kirilenko
    10. Divac

    Nash two time MVP
    Ginobili ring,ring
Dirk take team to NBA final
Yao nothing to add here, will top the list with a ring
Parker just not feel he contribute as much as Ginobili
    Petrovic
    Schrempf
    Mutombo
    AK47
    Gasol

Do we HAVE to put Schrempf on there? I hated that *&%$er more than Payton and Kemp...

Rik Smits definitely deserves mentioning. I still think that we would have lost in the NBA Finals if we faced Indiana instead of New York. Hakeem always seemed to have trouble against those big, slow centers for some reason...

I think Stojakovic will be one of the greatest when it's all said and done. He's going to light it up from the outside with Chris Paul driving and dishing.

...and, of course, we can't forget about the greatest foreigner in basketball history, the man himself...

I still think you have to call Hakeem an international player.....as he was from Africa.

I don't know why the citizenship thing matters. As for college, a number of the "international players" listed also played college ball in the US.

No Dominque Wilkens? And yes Hakeem is foreign too. I'm sure we're leaving out many others.
