I like trades and the excitement tha comes with getting new players as much as the next guy, but is this what the NBA has really come to? Where is the loyalty? WHere are the NY fans saying you cant trade Patrick Ewing, the Rockets didnt trade Hakeem and the SPurs never traded RObinson?

Just when you think the huge "King Kong" deal (why does nbatalk come up with the worst names for trades) is over, other players enter the mix. Now, Brad Miller, whom the Rockets had turned their heads to, according to numerous sources may be involved to keep the trade alive. And the Knicks-Sonics would probably just go ahead with their part of the trade anyway, and the knicks are going to trade some more players away to get a new center, and Gary Payton is now unhappy (wasnt GP the one who convinced Rashard Lewis to stay in Seattle), the Bulls are still chasing Rice and Jermaine Oneal, the Wizards want a piec of the action getting rid of Juwan Howard, the PIstons have other Lindsay hunter for Jimmy Jackson deals working and the Mavs have tried to land Christtian Laettner also.

If you ask me, all your going to see are the same players who couldnt win championships before playing on different teams in different cities still not able to win championships. I understand shaping a roster around key players, but all this movement likely wont get it done for anyone. WHo honestly thinks that either NY or Seattle become legitimate title contenders after this? Not me.

And its no wonder the ROckets arent getting too involved. My head is spinning just reading some of the printed rumors, CD has probably got a whole boatload more to work through. Add that into the fact that apparently David Falk is the GOD of the NBA and this whole thing just seems like one big mess to me.

Regardless, I cant remember an offseason when theres been more movement then this.

    Good points Jay !

I think the reason the fans are not treating Patrick the same way as Hakeem or D. Robinson, is that Patrick never won a ring.

One thing that I can't believe that no one is talking about is that CANCEROUS loser Gary Payton. He has ruined Vin Baker, and is the biggest whiner in the NBA.

I hope Gary Payton retires without ever sniffing the championship round.

The other reason the Ewing trade is going to go down -- and with approval from the vast majority of Knicks fans -- is that Ewing's relationship with NY fans and media has been stormy at best for his whole career and the last few years in particular. Not only has the team not won a title, but Ewing has appeared selfish and petulant since Sprewell was brought into the mix. Fans will be glad to get rid of him, which would certainly not be the case here or in San Antonio.

And as far as GP goes, he does exemplify what a joke some players and teams have become. He expects to not only play point guard for Seattle, but to have veto powers over any personnel moves. Of course Seattle has made their own bed on this one, since they have actively sought out his opinion before making moves in the past. What a ridiculous situation.

DaDakota: GP has already sniffed the championship round, he just doesn't have a ring [IMG].

I for one certainly don't think GP is that bad. For one, he may be a pain off the court, but while he's playing, he always gives the game everything he has. I admire that, and many players fail to do that.

Secondarily, GP *is* the Seattle franchise. Why *shouldn't* he have some authority over decisions concerning personel? Afterall, with these additions, and without GP, they're nothing. He certainly should be consulted... because if the new addition's game doesn't mesh with Payton, it's pointless anyway.

I do agree he's too vocal about it. But Payton possesses a Top 5 game who always brings his full attention to the court. You can't say that about many.
