Right now that is our bigger problem. We just play inconsistent. One night we can score 120, than 24 hours later we can score 85. One night we can make 12 3s, and than day after it we can't buy a basket. One night we give our best effort, and the other night we are lazy. We just need to find a way to fix it. We have to play defense and leave everything on the court every game. I understand shots are not always falling, but you can overcome this by your hustle, energy and agressivness. But you can play defense every time, no matter what. The problem may be injuries. I mean, one night we have Ron, the other one he is sitting. One night Shane feels well and contributes and than he is a non factor. Than you don't have T-Mac (actually we have, and hopefully he won't go out again). You know, we will be fine. I am sure that when Artest comes back healthly and we will have one ROTATION we will find our rythm. But right now we can beat Dallas one night and than lose to Clippers...
They did. Nothing worked out. The team couldn't take any pressure off Yao so the Clippers mauled him on defense.
most of yao's baskets were when he's right near the basket and he simply lay it in. when he isos and tries to score 1-on-1, he didn't do as well. and when the guys couldn't make their shots, it was harder to penetrate and harder to get yao the ball at good spots. bad game overall.
Good thread. With all the problems with shooting, rebounds, defense, etc. that we saw tonight, it all points to just one issue: inconsistency... especially against these "bad" teams.
You know, I don't know why, but deep in my thoughts I have this feeling that the drama is being set up on purpose...to make it just that more dramatic when it comes to playoff talks... I can just see the DVD, injury prone, odds against bla bla..Rockets still win a championship... Even though I really don't like our VERY constant injuries to not just one player but the whole freagin team... I just can't help but get that thought out of my head. Very optimistic of me, I know.
FWIW, the Clippers played a double OT in POR the night before. When you've constructed a team that is too short, too slow, too weak, too mono-dimensional and is perennially dead LAST in the NBA in fastbreak points... You will ALWAYS struggle against teams that don't have those defects and play any semblance of defense. We've seen that a plenty under 2 radically different coaching styles. Cue DaDakota and his fan club to remind us that hustle and heart are more desireable traits than talent and skill.
LOL - you and I just don't see eye to eye.....never have I said hustle is more valuable than talent and skill. The argument between you and I has nothing to do with talent and skill it has to do with Athleticism vs smarts..... It is great if you have both, but it is ok if you have Smarts only if you also have the work ethic. You can not tell me that the Rockets hustled last night, the Clippers are more athletic, but how is their record this year? Playing smart and hard are very important. Please don't confuse the hustle argument.....hustle is not even remotely close enough...or Ryan Bowen would be an all star. DD
I think you are wrong here. I mean yeah, athleticism and talent matter and actually we are very talented. But those are Clippers. You just can't say we are gonna lose games like this because we are less athletic. Man, this is a team which has won 50+ games for 2 straight years. In this game athleticism DIDN'T MATTER. When you are missing open 3s, when you simply can't buy a bucket and you make lazy passes and don't play defense you are gonna get owned by ANYBODY. I tought Golden State is also more athletic than we. And what? 2 straight blowouts. It is all in players heads. One night you play hard, the other one you don't. I know we will be fine once we get healhly but we have lost some cheap games...
