That's what Oakley thinks. Rattled Raptors Teetering On Brink of Elimination ...But the Raptors also have a few problems, most notably Oakley's displeasure with being inserted into the game early in the fourth quarter with Toronto trailing by 26. Oakley felt Wilkens was disrespecting him, whereas Wilkens said he wanted to see if a comeback was possible... The more I read about Oakley, the more I dislike him.
I like the take Kenny "The Jet" put on it at TNT - (Kenny's words) Wilkens to starters: "You guys get out there - you're the ones who created this mess in the first place". ------------------ GATER
I can see Oakley's point, although it should have been made to Wilkins in private. How many times do we question coaches who have their starters in a game that is a blowout in either direction? In addition, if Wilkins thought a comeback was possible, why was Carter removed with over 11 minutes left in the quarter? ------------------ [This message has been edited by bobrek (edited May 18, 2001).]
Apparently, you didn't dislike him sufficiently before. Where were you during the 1994 Finals? Maybe Carter was taken out because he couldn't be trusted with the ball: 6 turnovers. If nothing else, Oakley didn't need to rest in the 4th because he only played 20 minutes in the whole game. Maybe not getting more minutes earlier was a diss, but he shouldn't complain about having to play a whole 20 minutes. If I was his coach though, I'd disrespect him too. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
Didn't Carter get a concussion in that game? ------------------ I wrote her this love letter, but she don't know how to reeeaaad!
Or how about, "you're getting paid millions of dollars a year. Play ball." ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
