did anyone watch Scrubs tonight? Elliot's intern, Bruce, "the human beat box" was absolutely brilliant. not only that, he's one of my closest friends and is a native Houstonian! way to go Robbie! "He's got fluid in his lungs..."
Yeah, it was awesome. I'm not really sure how I felt about the ending, with the baby coughing and you hear one last "fluid in his lungs."
Cool. I was wondering if he really did that or if it was dubbed over. Have you heard him perform in person? FYI, NBC is moving Scrubs in between Will & Grace and ER during November sweeps month due to the poor performance of their new series Coupling. Repeats of Friends will occupy Scrubs current timeslot.
it was all him. he put it on his resume and sure enough it was what they were looking for. dudes a genius
yeah right, it doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as NewsRadio, and not in the same paragraph as The Simpsons.
Ahh, I find refuge on the BBS... Finally people appreciating the greatness and subtle nuances of Scrubs. Too bad it's ending in 2 seasons... Congratulate your friend for me, dude, he did a great job of beatboxing. I thought at first they got someone to dub that dude over, but knowing that he did it himself is pretty freakin tite. *Coupling is getting bad ratings? That seemed to be a promising show; a little racier than other primetime shows, but man, it had some great humor in it!
Watching Coupling, I feel like it was created to be the next Friends with some changes. I mean, they follow the 6 character 3 and 3 formula. They swapped the coffee shop for a club/lounge/bar. I could go on, but I'm tired.
It is? Oski, I didn't like that either. You don't need to have something happen to a baby on a show like that. I thought I read somewhere that Coupling got canceled. The one time I tried to watch it, it was pretty much unbearable.
Does anyone on here have BBC America? If you watch that show and watch this one, it's a total copy of it. Pathetic. Couldn't come up w/ their own ****....
Unfortunately, a lot of the latest american shows are copies of others. It sucks ass that we seem to have lost creativity. I like Friends, btw, though that might make me a sell out in some circles. It's time has come and I hope it has a good last episode. I don't know if NBC is the place for sit coms though. Besides Frasier, which may go too, NBC is lacking and the only things I will probably watch after Friends ends is Will & Grace and Scrubs. Whoopi seems promising, but I keep missing it. From what I've seen though, I've really enjoyed. At CBS, King of Queens is it. I think ABC has the best over all sitcoms right now. 8 simple rules was great, I don't know how I will be able to enjoy it now though. TGIF is back and half of it is good, George Lopez and Married to the Kellys. According to Jim is great, as is My Wife and Kids. Drew Carey is still watchable.
Oski, you left out the best ABC sit-com-Life With Bonnie. That show is hysterical. Bonnie Hunt is an underrated comedic actress.
I am saddened by the fact that I only learned of the greatness of "Scrubs" last year. I would love to see the seasons I missed prior to 2002. Perhaps a DVD release is slated in the future? One can only dream.
I've never watched it, but I guess I'll check it out. You know, ABC has got it figured out though, comedians make the best sitcoms, so it's no surprise most of their sitcoms are headlined by comedians.
You should. A lot of it seems improvised. There was an episode last season where David Duchovny (another underrated comedic actor, IMO) played a brainless pretty boy weatherman. You could tell the laughs by the cast weren't in the script. I was in tears.
The BBC Coupling is a copy of Friends for Brit audiences, but then NBC bought and remade Coupling for American audiences to replace friends, but they just used the same script with different actors, kind of stupid.
The BBC version of Coupling is funny, original, and not dumbed down like so many American shows are. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to check it out. The American version uses the exact same script as the British version, but the acting and directing isn't of the same quality. Not a big surprise that it's flaming out.
If you look through the history of sitcoms, most are headlined by a comedian, stand up or otherwise. (most of the good ones anyways)
I watched one episode of Coupling and liked it. "Still Standing" is the funniest sitcom on tv. Write that down.
