There is one thing we must do tonight to win...REBOUND! You can say all you want about why we lost last night but we lost b/c Utah got too many 2nd shots. Understandably because we had 3 centers out, 2 PFs fouled out, along with our leading rebounder in Francis. You can count on Vince coming in and trying to put on a show like Stevie did up there...Toronto might want some revenge. One positive is that Toronto does not rebound as well as the Kings and Utah. I don't think it's looking too good tonight, especially w/ Steve's ankle and all. "Looks like we might be back at .500." - Oops, i was thinking we were 19-18. Well, it looks like we will drop 2 games under, although I'd like to be back at .500. ------------------ "Steve is good. Contradiction? On one hand you said it wouldn't look too good; on the other, you said we'd be back to .500? We're now 18-19. So I'll take your latter prediction. Go Rockets!!! ------------------
In order to win tonight, we must score more than Toronto. I think anything else is secondary in importance. ------------------ "I personally don't think Jordan would have enjoyed playing with himself." -- JeffB lets us all know that Popeye and Clutch aren't the only ones with inside sources... Does anyone know if Carlos Rogers is back w/ the team yet? We are missing him badly. Even Cato at center is better than no center, or Bullard(he sucked bad last night). ------------------ "Steve is good. I think rebounding gets way too much emphasis in terms of wins. Yeah, everybody needs to rebound according to their positions (ie, C and PF should be good rebounders), but some of the worst teams in the NBA are probably good rebounding teams. Why? They brick shots so much, they can't help but inflate their rebounding numbers. I went ahead and looked up the numbers. The following are the best rebounding teams in the NBA. Tell me what the correlation between wins and rebounding is : (from best to worst) Toronto Sacramento Golden State L.A. Lakers L.A. Clippers Charlotte Philadelphia Seattle Denver Detroit Among the 6 worst rebounding teams are : New York Utah Miami If we outrebound Toronto, more power to us... but I say we have a better chance of winning if we outscore them. ------------------ "I personally don't think Jordan would have enjoyed playing with himself." -- JeffB lets us all know that Popeye and Clutch aren't the only ones with inside sources... The Raptors outrebounded the Rockets last time by a 59-46 margin. IMO, the real key is more assists and fewer turnovers then Toronto. Steve beat Jackson by 11-7 in assists and needs to do it again for a W. ------------------ GATER
I'm talking defensive rebounds though...Offensive not included. If you allow too many rebounds on defense you'll get blown out. I'd look up the stats for defensive rebounds, but I don't want to go through the trouble now . ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
I said it last time vs Toronto and I'll say it again...Steve needs a big game to win. He usually has big games anyway, but I'm talking huge. I remember the last game he almost had a tripledouble through 3, but he sat most of the fourth b/c it was a blowout. Steve can tear up Jackson on both ends of the floor. ------------------ "Steve is good. Steve is real good." -- Cleveland's rookie point guard Andre Miller on Rocket rookie point Steve Francis
Haha! Drewdog~ I could see that happening. Oakley is a BULLY!!! And is it just me, or does MO run his mouth a lot? ------------------ Charles, seems you've got your work cut out for you. I'm BEHIND you 100%!!!
I'll save you the trouble - http://www.nba.com/games0001/20010115/HOUUTH/boxscore.html The Jazz missed 46 shots and the Rockets grabbed 31 of 'em. I still say it's assists. ------------------ GATER
Ok, ya lazy son of a biscuit... lol... I'll do your work for you: Top 5 Defensive Rebounding Teams : Charlotte LA Clippers Seattle Indiana Dallas Bottom 5 Defensive Rebounding Teams : Orlando Phoenix New Jersey Utah Chicago Dunno... but I see some duds among the best and some good teams among the worst. Where are : the Lakers (#10), Minnesota (#11), Sacramento (#13), New York, (#16), Miami (#20), Phoenix (#26). ------------------ "I personally don't think Jordan would have enjoyed playing with himself." -- JeffB lets us all know that Popeye and Clutch aren't the only ones with inside sources...
