This is my first topic so please don't flame me. I was looking on RealGm and came across an article about Toni Kukoc. http://www.journaltimesonline.com/nucleus/index.php?itemid=1504 Journal Times - Toni Kukoc's days in Milwaukee appear to be over. "It's unfortunate because Toni really wanted to come back there,'' said Herb Rudoy, Kukoc's agent. "He really wanted to keep playing for them.'' The Bucks have locked up most of their money in Michael Redd, Bobby Simmons and Dan Gadzuric. "It's my impression that they aren't going to re-sign Toni,'' Rudoy said. "With what they've done in free agency, it isn't likely Toni will return. I think Simmons put them over the top.'' "There's a lot of interest in Toni,'' Rudoy said. "There are a half a dozen teams constantly calling about Toni. And there are some very good teamss that want him.'' Rudoy wouldn't disclose the teams that are pursuing Kukoc, although one of them is believed to be Chicago Ok, i know he is old and not a good defender, but I think he could give us 10-15 minutes off the bench. He has good size, can shoot, and to my knowledge was a good passer. The article says that other teams are interested in him as well. Do you guys think he can be had for cheap and if he would be a good player for the Rockets to pick up?
Toni Kukoc would be a great feeder of the Yao, last season in 20 minutes he averaged 5.6 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, while shooting 36% from three. If Jon Barry doesn't get resigned Toni would be a great alternative.
Fantasy wise he was picking up late in the season. Still pretty productive but no where near his old self from chicago. He was still dishing and shooting at a pretty high percentage as well as decent rebounding for a role player. He improved much better after the all-star break. He'd provide some relief that's for sure but doubt he'd make any great impact. I think he could take padgett's spot. Kukoc is a better passer. He would be a great backup for T-Mac if he comes here for virtually nothing. He is easily one of the smartest players I have ever seen play in the league, a great passer, very good shooter, 6'11" small forward. I like the Croatian Sensation, sign me up, but the money has to be right. Afterall, he might not play more than 15 minutes on any given night, but would be the ideal veteran who has been through it all and can bring a winning mentality to the team. Like Kukoc suggestion, for I have mentioend it a while back as a cheap alternative to back up T-Mac at the position if we can't get Padgett back.
