We hear over and over about how the Rockets don't want the ball to "stick" on offense. I get Harden dribbling to create. I get parsons doing it too. Lin can create a bit, but all three of them tend to make a decision pretty quick.

But WTF is the deal with Douglas? t's been happening tons in the last 5-10 games, and I'm surprised that he's getting the kind of minutes he gets, or that they're not coming down on him hard quit doing that. the guy dribbles and chucks like he is an all star SG.

    What am I missing here?

Not to mention he isn't very good at finishing at the rim and yet he drives like there is no tomorrow. Turnover machine.

unless his 3's are falling, he's a big ass minus on the court.

I actually thought Douglas made some nice passes tonight. The buckets weren't falling, but it looked like he was trying a little harder to make plays than he has been.

we relied on parsons to slow things down when he was out there.

    you're not a rookie douglas

getting up on douglas is how to defend him.
they are begging him to drive knowing he isn't the strongest finisher.
lets just hope he doesn't develop a tear drop.

I think that while Douglas is not a good creator by point guard standards, he's still our third best creator behind Harden and Lin

This. Bad coaching. Tell Tney Uglas not to handle the ball and just stick to what he does well.

    I ain't even mad.

Douglas and the bench was the main reason we weren't blown out in the third. TD pesky D and the 3!

I'd rate Delfino as a better creator than Douglas

Scrub mode reactivated this evening. He's too inconsistent to be a rotational player in this league. His worst trait is that he tries too much and won't let the game or lack thereof just come to him.

Toney Douglas provides some energy defensively, seems to pick up the pace of the game, and he's a good spot up shooter and free throw shooter. Outside of that, its pretty ugly. Definitely not someone you want handling the ball a lot.

Douglas just isn't a PG. Lin had a terrible game, that's why Douglas got minutes tonight. At least McHale didn't go Sampson on us and leave Douglas out there to rot the game away.

He is the closest thing besides Delfino we have to a SG and the coaches also like playing small ball so Douglas is meant to give Harden or Lin rest when they are having Delfino and Parsons out at the same time as well.

So the basic idea behind this thread is that we could use a better backup PG?

Machado clearly not being the answer, just perhaps that's why we're giving Beverly a look?

How big a part was Douglas in the 2nd unit really playing big minutes and getting us back in the game?

Breaking News: This team doesn't have a lot of great offensive players. If Harden is out and we're not getting transition points, Douglas is as good as anyone. Actually, I thought the Rockets went democracy ball during that time. Morris had some opportunites too, along with Delfino. There's a reason why the Rockets want to run all the time. They suck in the half court, except Harden.

You can hate Cousins all you want, but if he develops his post play, that would be the answer to Toney Douglas dribbling out the clock.

TD's pestering D and the bench squad in the 3rd is what helped get the team back into the game...and then our top dawg finished them off...
