From the fine people who brought the us the Jolie lesbian lover story link Cruise: I'll eat placenta TOM Cruise has claimed he will eat the PLACENTA after fiancée Katie Holmes has their baby. The actor, 43 — who wants her to give birth in silence according to his Scientology cult rules — said: “I’m gonna eat the placenta, too. “I thought that would be good. Very nutritious. I’m going to eat the cord and the placenta right there.” But when a GQ magazine interviewer said it would be a big meal, Cruise replied: “OK, maybe I won’t.”
Anything for publicity, I guess. It's sad....it seems to me like they got pregnant for the publicity. Then, once that died down, they came out with the "silent birth" thing (which is the stupidest beliefs of all time, by the way), now, since nobody cares, they're trying to get more hype with this.
What's wrong with this guy? I'm about to lump him in the same category as Michael Jackson and Mike Tyson as far as weird is concerned.
He said in another interview that it was just a joke he made up because he knew the media would run with it.
Yeah, whatever. Cruise has pretty much lost the "benefit of the doubt" card. The guy's just goofy. But like Faos said, he's still a pretty watchable movie star. And these crazy stunts/quotes do have a certain freakshow quality to it. His unintentional comedy rating is pretty much off the charts.
that may have been the most pointless article in the history of articles. like 4 lines ending with "ok maybe i won't" to the whole point of the article. hey guys, i'm going to try and hot air balloon around the world. f4p, it's a pretty long trip. ok, maybe i won't. and cruise has about a million miles to go before he is in michael jackson's or tyson's league. those two have just blown the competition away.
I think he's just joking, playing into the public's perceptions of him. Pretty easy to do when you're standing up for your beliefs. It seems like a lot of the times that he's attacking psychotherapy or some spouting some other religious tenet, he's doing so defensively, in response to some reporter's questions about them. Granted, Scientology has a lot to answer for (Isaac Hayes' ghost-written resignation from South Park comes to mind), but when exactly did scrutinizing someone's religion begin to pass for celebrity journalism? Lots of faiths and cultures have weird traditions, many of which aren't always practised: I can't remember the last time I've been to a good animal sacrifice or witch trial. Does transubstantiation make sense to non-Catholics?
I have a feeling that this was taken out of context. I watched an interview with him a few days ago and he made a lot of sarcastic remarks to that effect involving Scientology.
Yes, because he knows the health benefits of placenta. You guys don't. He did his homework. You guys didn't. You're all glib.
We watched the his interview with Diane Sawyer and he said that it was a joke because everyone thinks he is a fruitcake.
I've heard the term glib mentioned in this thread, more times than I've ever heard it in my life before. Keep it up. Tom Cruise is awesome. I don't think he said it for publicity, because as is every entertainment show and late night show makes a mention of him or Angelina Jolie at the top of every broadcast for at least the past 6 months. He's just messing with feeble minds.
