Specter vs. Sestak looks like a nail-biter -- which is kind of amazing considering Sestak was like twenty points down a month ago. Today could be the end of Arlen Specter's career. I agree with Josh Marshall . If he loses I will be a little sad. I've disagreed with Specter a lot, but I've always had a soft spot for him.

And if Blanche Lincoln doesn't make 50% in the Democratic primary in Arkansas, she'll face a run off against Bill Halter.

Between all this and the penultimate episode of LOST, it's going to be an interesting night.

Specter is toast and I doubt it's a "nail-biter". He just needs to go away.

Amen. From the magic bullet theory to the baseball hearings, this man has made a mockery of our political system for over 40 years. I will be really happy to see an honorable man like Toomey take his place in the Senate. (Heck, even Sestak would be an improvement.)

And don't forget Kentucky. Rand Paul Revolution!!

I was reading up on some of the races and had a surprise. Princella Smith is running for Congress in Arkansas (Lil Pun's district?). I met her when she was a lobbyist in Newt Gingrich's group making a tour through Texas. She is a brilliant and charming young woman, and would do a great job in Congress. I hope she is the nominee.

He's always mentioned that he's a libertarian so yes I can understand him supporting Paul.

I consider myself a moderate libertarian, if such a thing exists. I worked some for Ron Paul's Presidential campaign. I do like Rand more, though.

What's the difference between the two? (I also like that he named his kid Rand)

AP just called it for Sestak

    weslinder thas cool.

It'll be interesting to see how much Paul takes up the tea party platform. Josh Marshall had a great blog post a few minutes ago...

8:48 PM: Rand Paul now rhapsodizing about Tea Party movement. Now explaining why Obama is pal of third world radicals. CNN producer tweets: "Rand Paul's victory party isn't a Tea Party rager. Appears to be mostly his friends and supporters from the community and country club."

Rand Paul is more mainstream on some Federal programs, and he's for term limits and against earmarks (for which Ron Paul has a bizarre rationalization).

Actually, Rand's first name is Randal. His wife started calling him Rand.

Wasn't it obvious that Specter was going to lose when the race pulled even last week? Today is anti-climactic for me.

And she lost by more than 40%. Oh well, it's not a bad rookie run for a candidate with little more than a Newt Gingrich endorsement.

What party will Specter join now? I can't imagine him just going away.

1 of the 2 Congressional Special Elections (PA-12) decided tonight hasn't been called, but it's pretty much wrapped up for the conservative Democrat Critz. There wasn't much difference in policy between the candidates, but the national Republican organizations spent a lot in this race. The polls don't close in Hawaii for a couple of hours.

Arkansas Dem Senator Primary seems to be headed for a run-off. If I were Blanche Lincoln, I wouldn't like my chances in a run-off.
