How many of you woke up to the sound of thunder this morning? That storm ran through Fort Bend around 7 this morning and I almost fell out of bed when some of the thunder hit. The lightning was wild...the last time I've seen anything like that it resulted in a tornado when I was vacationing in Florida a few years ago.
Was it traveling NORTH/NORTHWEST? It was NASTY in KATY. I was stuck on HIGHWAY 6 for a while, and the sky THUNDERED and LIGHTNINGED (is that a word, hence, my ALL_CAPS) so much, I thought the BAD ASS STORM was just above us. Luckily, many people win in Vegas.
Same thing going on here in College Station. I woke up to an ear shattering crack of thunder around 4 am. It set off every car alarm at my apartment and the one accross the street. It took forever before they were finally silenced.
Is this going to be a new trend? If there's a new weather thread everytime there's a thunderstorm in Houston, that's gonna be alot of threads.
From Houston? No. But I've lived here for more than 10 years. I lived in Florida and will put those storms up with anyone. Watching the news this morning my house was right in the path of the worst of it. The cell over us could have spurred possible tornados according the the weather I was watching.
Sweet. Nothing like direct weather observations to inspire some heated discussion. It was raining here this morning, but now it's stopped. I was thinking of starting a new thread about it, but decided that was overkill.
It's rained about 8 inches in Phoenix since October 1st, 2004. The Salt River actually looks like a river. Of course, then their is L.A. which is currently sliding into the Pacific Ocean.
It is pouring here on the southeast side of town. I would really like to just work from home today, but I have to go to a damn lunch meeting.
Thanks for your concern about thread topics. Do you police them all? Please send me your email address or phone number so I can get your ok before starting my next topic.
You're quite welcome. Not all topics, just the ones I think lend themselves to a well-placed facetious remark. Feel free to use carrier pigeon or perhaps telegraph to communicate your thread topics to me and I will return my approval in kind, post-haste.
it hit us early in morning, around 2 or so. perfect weather to fall asleep to. i remember being awake for one particularly nasty lightning display and proceeded to cover my ears, expected one of those ear-shattering blasts, but nothing happened. then off again to sleepyland. and now it's 50 outside, compared to 80 yesterday.
Houston weather is just crazy! Yesterday I was sweating and today I am wearing a light jacket. I slept well though.
As long as there isn't major damage etc, I think storms can be pretty cool. The force of nature is pretty amazing.
No problem. And thanks again for continuing to reply. I'm hoping to break some records and think this may be the topic to do so.
Yup, you can tell rodeo season just started & the trail's headed for Houston, 'cause it's storming out.
