hi buddies, I'm a Chinese Rockets Fan living in Chicago. I love BBall, NBA, Rockets, YM, MJ... clutch is my favorite BBS and EPSN is my fav sport site.

When I was in China, I read sports news from sina.com, tom.com, sportsweekly.com(Ti Tan Zhou Bao) like you guys. But since coming to US, seeing sites like Clutch, SI, EPSN, reading SLAM, ESPN the Mag, and getting chances to watch many many games on League pass. I realize that the chinese basketball media really sucks. I cannot bear those articles on sina.com anymore. And to me, sportsweekly becomes just a translator of ESPN, totally mediocre.... Same situation in those Chinese BBALL BBS, people have no chances to watch games and all they know is from chinese websites and NBA stats.

I'm thinking about establishing a non-profit Chinese BBall website in US, maybe just a BBS, where fans can get ESPN types of resource in Chinese, talk baskball intelligently, post good articles and get to know other fans. Chinese fans deserve a better place than bbs.sina.com where all people care is who has better hop, MJ or Kobe.

If you are with me, please email:
    shawn-cheng@northwestern.edu

It's just an idea now and I'd like to create an email list first then talk with you guys through email. anyway ...Clutch crews, I realized this post maybe little bit odd here, but I couldn't think about any good place to post my idea. Please keep this for a while. All I want to do is to help basketball fans, rockets fans in China. I really appreciate your work here and always enjoy coming to clutchcity.net. Thank you

Great idea, and i like Yin's plan of having a Chinese-speaking forum. I don't speak Chinese at all, but it would be awesome for those who can't speak or read English and just Chinese fans in general.

I am not an "intelligent" basketball fan. But I really enjoy your posts about Rockets at bbs of sina.com.

I have sent my email to you.

it's not a really good idea for opening a chinese forum here. if cc has this, then YAO-haters(chinese) will be all over the cc net now. :D

The server will probably not be able to handle the traffic.

Clutch will go bananas if after every Rockets game this site goes down for 3 hours.

If words get around, there will be 100K + users trying to get into the chat room, forum....

100K users.... If 10% of them are Chinese, and 1% of these Chinese fans are die-hard fans willing to build a Chinese site with me...

Come on guys! Lets do something for those Chinese fans only getting junky information from those ****.com s. Let's do something for ourselves, let's have some serious fun! While you are enjoying Clutchcity, just imagine we could work to build such a great site in Chinese also.

Thank you RocketLaunch! Could you send me an email?
    shawn-cheng@northwestern.edu

So that I can add you to the mailing list then we can talk about this via email, not taking clutch's space.

Again, thank you for willing to help fans from another country!

this is surely an intriguing idea. but I'm not sure if you are setting the bar too high if you are calling sportsweekly merely a "translating place" and "mediocre" though...

beat out those sina.com articles the does nothing except misleading readers with stupid titles/claims? sure I think we could do that. beat out sports papers professionally? that would take quite some work and planning indeed... :)

yes, ty185, beating pro is hard. But besides sportsweekly, what else can be called a pro bball media in China. Anyway sportsweekly's website has nothing more than a copy of newspaper basicly. Do you find yourself having fun in their site like you have here? I don't want to beat them. They make millions per month. I just want a better place to have fun with other fans.

    Come on. Join us!

Is that why after a bad game, CC.net always go down?

    I would love to help.

I'm fluent in both English & Chinese.

I think it's a better idea just to have an indepedent site outside of cc.net to defuse the traffic load so CC.net don't overload too much.

thanks rvpals, could you send me an email shawn-cheng@northwestern.edu? we've got 8 people on the list right now and more is coming definintely.

HakeendaDream, we really enjoy talking with other fans in English. But alot bball fans in China cannot read English and the lack of information and communication make them suffer. To help them is one of our main purposes.

I believe that if cc.net will be translated into Cinese, then it should also be translated into Italian, French, German, Swedish, Finnish, Yiddish, Spanish,......................................................................................, and all 150,000 or so African dialects, you know for those Hakeems fans out there in the middle of Kenya.
