Cuttino was awesome! I still think he shots too much, but tonight he nailed almost all of them. I don't care if he shoots a lot, as long as they are good shots.

Cuttino was fantastic today. He shot well and also got to the line and made his free throws. I have always liked him.

I will still keep my opinion about him being better suited as a 6th man, but lately he has been great.

If he can keep this defensive effort up for the rest of the year, I will say he should be a starter.

Another great game, Cat. Thanks. I'm going to try and figure out what works well for you. You seem to like playing Boston!

without cat we would have lost the last five games that we won. i consider him with steve francis and eddie griffin as the best players on this team for the next five years.

I may be in the minority, but I think Cuttino is far more effective when someone else sets him up for a shot.

He seems to make an outstanding percentage of jumpers when the table is set by another player.

It is when he tries to go one on the other team that the problems happen.

Cat is playing outstanding, and the best thing about his play of late.....HIS DEFENSE !!!

I disagree. Cat's always been a nice scorer. But lately, he's been shooting at a clip like one of the elite 2s. Defense is more important - I certainly wish the Rockets paid more attention to it. But even the best defensive guards don't really make that much of a dent in their opponent's scoring. A bit... but not as much as scoring an extra few points makes.

I think Cat is a selfish boob who costs us games even while getting good statistics. And I will admit that he is playing great lately. His shot selection has improved dramatically. Is it actually possible that he is maturing? Now if his improved shot selection will rub off on twin Steve, we can be good. Really good!

Has anyone else notice Cat has changed his shot? He seems to hardly even jump now. I'm talking about his three pointers, his jumpshots he'll jump every which way to get his shot off :D But on threes, he like sets and barely jumps.. I wonder why none of the commentators have mentioned it.. or not that I heard.. ??

Cuttino does deserve a whole lot more respect than he is given. He's a consistent scoring threat and a team leader. Cat has been a good player since day one, and continues to improve. Although this season is not what was expected, there is no way we would be where we are without Cuttino Mobley. Everybody needs to start showing their love for Cat!!

Dakota, I won't disagree. When I ran the numbers, Cat was shooting just over 41% from the field this season when Steve was absent. When Steve plays, Cat shoots nearly 46%. Cat puts too much pressure on himself to initiate the offense and force the issue esp when Steve isn't there.

Recently, he's relaxed and many of his shots come in the flow of the game.

I hate the bashers who say we can't win with Cat because he's poor shooter and defender. His shooting ain't poor...and it's not as if Cat only has one leg. With coaching and motivation, the guy can do it all...including defense.

Put it this way, I'd rather Cat was on my team than the opponent!

    Cuttino's career stats (PPG/REB/APG):

    98-99 9.9/2.3/2.5
    99-00 15.8/3.6/2.6
    00-01 19.5/5/2.6
    01-02 20.7/4.2/2.7

    Career: 16.7/3.9/2.5

He is also far above average in the steals dept (1.12 career).

If this does not show a steady improvement, then I don't know what will. His career avg is hampered mainly by his first (and arguably, second) year in terms of scoring. It would seem that he's a consistent 18-20ppg/4-5rpg/2.5apg type of guy. I'll take one of those any day.

Mobley is a great , I was wrong about him but I still think he is too short to guard the best shooting guards in the leauge but other than that and his passing skills he is a great player .

No one can guard him either. That's why we see so many ISOs.

He's not exactly a defensive specialist, but he is hard to defend. He's certainly an offensive asset to any team.

When Cat has his next 3-14 shooting outing can I start a thread asking for him to be benched?
