Sad, but true. I'm sure a lot of you guys noticed his neck right before introductions at Sunday's All-Star Game. http://www.insidehoops.com/ernie-johnson-022206.shtml I wish him all the best and he'll be in my thoughts.
wish ernie the best. good guy and great mediator and sacrastic joke filler between kenny and charles.
Perhaps my favorite on-air sports personalities in all of television. The guy is great and his chemistry with Charles & Kenny is absolutely fantastic. I hope he has a speedy recovery and doesn't have to miss any airtime. The couple of other times that they've had a fill-in for Ernie, Inside the NBA has been absolutely horrible.
hope all goes well. and how does he only have one emmy as best studio host. he should practically win every year.
Damn... My prayers are with Ernie also. He's such a good fit w/ Kenny and Charles... I wish him all the best.
Best wishes to him. He's the best NBA host on TV. He's professional, objective, and is frequently the only voice of reason on that telecast. I remember last year when Charles and Kenny were ragging on Yao for getting voted onto the All-star team, Ernie stopped them cold by saying that Yao was the only worthy center on the ballot, which caused Kenny to backtrack and mumble something about dividing the ballot into "Big men" and "Guards". He has a point, because the center position in the league is pretty pathetic, but they should have been ripping up on the league and not Yao or the fans in the first place.
I love this dude's broadcast. Seriously, he seems like a guy you could just hang out with as opposed to a big personality.
Probably the most underappreciated host in sports. Too bad it takes something like this for many people to notice him.
I remember a couple years ago, this great article in USA today came out about his personal life. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/nba/stories/2002-05-09-ernie-johnson-focus.htm What really blew me away was that he adopted 2 children, one of them disabled, into his family. And he also volunteers every year at a Muscular Dystrophy camp. What a solid guy. I always felt he was the glue that held TNT's show together. He plays the straight man so well, and you can tell that Kenny and Charles and anyone else who comes on shows mad respect to him.
