What do you prefer to watch the games on and why? I caught Game 1 on ESPN and it was the first time I could stand it in a long time without getting annoyed from the announcers.
Game 2 is on Ch. 51. I prefer the local feed for tonights game because you know the first game will run long on TNT, and TNT will not show the first couple of minutes of the Rockets-Mavs game tonight. Last night, TNT did not show the beginnings of both the Spurs/Nuggets game and Phoenix and Memphis. why can't TNT just put it three hour gaps between games, or cut down on ads. The NBA fan is really getting cheated here.
Ch 51 is a pile of crap. One game earlier this season, I had to watch the game w/ no volume because the static was so bad. For one quarter, it clicked back and was ok then in the 4th it was back to crap. They should be ashamed of themselves for even calling this a TV station. That quality wouldn't go over 40 years ago w/ b&w TV much less today with HiDef options coming online.
I must have over looked it this morning. Thanks for the heads up. When I have choice I prefer TV51 because I know a lot of people don't have cable and I figure maybe I'm helping with the ratings. If the ratings improve maybe the Rockets or TV51 will put more games on for the rest of the people. It's kind of silly but that's what I do.
i prefer to catch the entire game, so local broadcast for the first part and postgame...but I prefer TNT, ESPN, b/c I know what our announcers will say about the Rockets, I want to know what other people are saying about them.
I normally like to watch the local broadcast better, but I am always curious to hear what the national guys say so I tune in, but it is always short-lived. I don't like the national broadcast because it is annoying listening to people who have obviously not seen many Rockets games. After a few comments that are really just preconceived notions of what the Rockets are, I turn back to Bill and Walter Brennan.
I always watch games on ESPN / TNT if given the option, for a few reasons: 1) I love bill worrell, however he just doesn't get into the games like national tv announcers do -- that's their jobs, to make the games sound "exciting". a perfect example is rockets / san antonio in the regular season, it just didn't seem like as big of a deal as it was on local tv. 2) even though generally the announcers don't ever give the rockets a fair shake, I like to hear what other people outside of our homers have to say once in awhile. whether it may piss me off or otherwise. 3) lastly, the biggest reason: I have an HDTV, espnHD / tntHD for life!
i cant stand doug collins, so i'll be watching ch 51 tonight. dont the rockets lose every time collins is the announcer?
I prefer FSN: Ch. 51 always delivers poor video quality and color. TNT and ESPN have good video quality, but the announcers talk about everything in the world except the game being played. I friggin' can't stand that. They'll be interviewing some celebrity in the crowd or showing a taped interview of some other coach in some other division while the game is being played. I expect that crap from an NBA show, like Inside Stuff or NBA Fastbreak, but not while I'm trying to watch the game. example: "And there's Jack Nicholson, academy award winning actor and avid Laker fan. We asked him about his upcoming movie... as McGrady drives in for a layup ... and we wanted to know if Jack could tell us a little about the storyline blah blah blah." I hate that. -- droxford
Those of you that watch ch 51, are you happy with the reception? If so, how are you getting it because on TimeWarner, I find it unwatchable. I litterally can't see the #'s on the players backs. If TNT/ESPN don't carry it, need to know if I can get better reception.
I went to WalMart and bought a set of rabbit ears and the picture and sound has been fine. I live north of 1960.
You need to learn to differentiate players by their body-types. The tall pale guy is Yao. The wide guy is either Wesley or Weatherspoon. The tall guy who keeps hitting a bunch of insane shots is McGrady. The pale guy standing on the 3 point line is Barry. You get the idea.
Watched game 1 on ESPN since it was on in HD. I don't have TNT HD, so I will probably watch game 2 on Cuban's HDNet (complet with Mavs announcers).
tnt, bill worrell rules but van and matt are boring,if murph was herer by all means, that being said, tnt, then fsn
