looks like morey is trying to find a coach he can control and dictate terms too vs. someone who knows how to win with a proven track record.

    am surprised by this list.

Lol Deng's was the funniest. "I don't have an answer for it, it's just something we gotta stop."

Rick is a classic example of a head coach not wanting to play the young guys, because it might cost him a few victories. By their nature and job description, a head coach really can't think or plan long term, so that creates a rift, which usually gets the coach fired or pushed out. It happens all the time in the NBA.

Sometimes there are no bad guys, and this is one of those times.

Why are you surprised? Because they are looking at assistant coaches and a broadcaster? Let's take a look at the teams who are remaining in the playoffs:

Dallas - Carlisle - prior to Dallas fired after 2 years in Det and fired after 4 years in Indiana. He had a record of 281-211 as a head coach prior to getting the Dallas job. Does that mean that he knows how to win? Did he have a proven track record?

Memphis - Hollins - Only head coaching experience prior to getting the Memphis job was going 18-42 as the interim coach. Proven winner?

OKC - Brooks - Only prior head coaching experience was going 22-47 as interim coach? Proven winner?

Bos - Rivers - Fired 11 games into his 5th season in Orlando with a record of 171-168 and his team never won more than 44 games in a season (BTW Lawrence Frank's NJ team won 49 in a season) . Is that a proven track record that ensured success in Boston?

Miami - Spolstra - No prior head coaching experience.

Chicago - Thibodeau - No prior head coaching experience.

Atl - Drew - No prior head coaching experience.

Let's even throw in Popovich since they had the best record in the league. Prior to taking over as head coach of the Spurs...no head coaching experience in the NBA.

Seems to me that based on recent history that going the assistant route and hiring guys with no experience or a few years experience has worked out well for the teams remaining in the playoffs.

Do you think that the fans of any of the teams were that excited when any of these guys were hired? Did the fans think that these were the guys that were going to turn things around or put them over the top? I doubt it.

Personally I got really tired of the era where every vacant job got shuffled between Hubie Brown, Larry Brown and Mike Fratello. Nothing wrong with giving guys that have paid their dues a chance. Certainly not a sure thing, but t's worked out quite well for many teams.

The funny thing is that Morey wanted to argue that the Rockets have a history of supporting their coaches and not letting them go mid-contract. Which is true. Publicly, Morey always supported JVG and Adelman, heaped praise on them, and defended them against critics.

But when you don't extend a coach who has a proven track record, that is perceived (rightly or wrongly) as a firing.

Funny thing is, at this point I'd rather Kenny coach the Rockets than pretty much two of our leading candidates. Casey looks interesting, other than that, it's a wash.

Casey or Frank will be fine to rebuild with. Maybe even McHale. None of you have ever been in a locker room, huddle, or practice session with any of these men to know what kind of coaches they are. So stop passing judgement.

No matter the coach Les and Morey chooses, it will all come down to what kind of talent they get to work with. That will be the key to the future of this franchise in my opinion.

Did Charles just compare us to the Titanic? If we are a movie, I'd say we're closer to Major League than the Titanic...

That's a ridiculous statement. This is the NBA as in professional basketball. You can't just throw a bunch of raw talents and no basketball IQ on the court.

Rick has done a super job of building young talents. His track record here speaks for itself in the last 4 years.
