I think this is probably great news... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/basketball/nba/01/17/tbs.deal.ap/index.html?eref=si_nba
This does sound like it's heading in the right direction, I mean the programming on NBAtv has been substandard, and probably 70% reruns. Every time I watch the thing it seems like something I've already seen. I hope turner does away with those "Better Basketball" commercials that touts Rick Torbett as some sort of expert and JJ Redick as 'the greatest shooter in basketball history' or something like that. They are aired every single break during games. I am nervous about my precious League Pass changing management hands. Something tells me this might increase the price. Improvements could be made though and I think Turner is a cutting edge, albeit eccentric media tycoon who knows how to run television.
Rest easy, though I'd take another look at your evaluations of Ted Turner's abilities. What year do you think it is?
I hope they don't get rid of Rick Kamla. IMO, one of the best pbp guys right now. Dude really knows his stuff and makes d-league games seem exciting.
This sounds like fantastic news. TNT has the best NBA coverage around. Hopefully they can breathe new life into NBATV. It has been somewhat disappointing in terms of the programs outside of NBA basketball. I also hope it has a new streamlined, attractive presentation. Those two improvements would make the channel infinitely better and, in turn, attract more viewers/customers.
