I've seen it in every game I have seen since he got back from injury. His problem is he watches the ball and not his man. Just watch next game his head is almost always turned away from the guy he is supposed to mark. That is why he is always a step behind and his guy is getting open. He needs to concentrate and just worry about his guy. He wants steals by seeing the pass coming and intercepting. He needs to ask himself what's more important two steals a game or shutting your guy down?

already??? I think TMac is slower than normal but he is slow only when fighting through pick and roll, and there is a reason why teams run pick and roll, becoz it works! with Alston, TMac and whoever the defender is. And why is it that whenever Yao isn't doing that well we get anti TMac posts so quickly? Speaking of shutting down your guy, Yao is doing a great job of shutting down his guy Al Harrington! oh wait...

Tmac bashing threads just pop up every game no matter how good he does.

Oh I'm not a TMac hater I've been defending him here lately the problem isn't his offense. The simply fact of it is he isn't play very good defense at all lately, and if he would just pick it up on that end he would be doing as well as ever.

Can you post some real stats to show why his defense is bad? Like how many points his man scores on him per game and whatever you can think of.

amen. TMAC is starting to look better and better. He had a nice block on a fast break a few min ago.

BTW, nice timing on this thread. TMAC for 3.....he's turning it up a notch. Yao is on the bench and our lead is getting bigger and bigger.

This isn't a thread talking about how terrible TMac is and how he is the cancer to our team. AI never said that and never will. I want to keep him. What he has done offensively tonight and practically every night has nothing to do with his defense. Trying to use that to back up his defensive performace (which is in the title of this thread) is idiotic. If you want to argue about defense stuff in this thread fine other wise stop bringing up his O. We all know he's great at the end of the court.

    lack of desire.

That's all defense ever really is in professional sports.

"Concentrate and just worry about his guy"?

Dude, there are two cardinal rules of defense:
    1. Always know where your man is
    2. Always know where the ball is

Watching the ball is important to. If you don't, your man's got an easy back-cut, or can run you into a screen real easy. You have to be aware of what's going on around you. This is why you try to keep a hand on your man so you know where he is without looking.

Defense isn't rocket science. It's not a conceptual problem with him. It's just plain laziness (or saving himself for offense, if you wanna put it like that).

I think you are confusing TMac with Yao. YAO GOT 5 REBOUNDS AND AL GOT 16. Even though I don't blame Yao maybe he is tired, but to blame TMac is ridiculous. It must be really hard for you guys to have TMac play so well lately

TMac is kinda rope a doping when on D, uses it to rest up, kinda smart actually, he can't go fullout D and then bust game winning shots every game you know, he just picks his spots to play inspired D.

Everyone forgot how he Ded up Dirk during the playoffs? A lot of scorers tend to slack off on defense to save enery for Offense. Tmac is usually not guarding the stars of the other team because Battier is. Tmac knows he doesnt have to stick to his guy as tight and I dont see Tmacs man lighting him up often.

Watch his lazy eye. His head is facing the ball, but his lazy eye is watching his man. That's how he gets such good breaks on the ball. :D
