Yo everybody, id just like to say thanks to Clutch for upgrading me so i can start some topics alright so has anybody else noticed the way tmac talks to the media about the rockets being "his' team, and that its all on him if we lose this series? ive been thinking about this attitude for a long time, cus he's been saying stuff like this a lot...and i freaking love it a lot of people would think that this is being arrogant, but i think this is just perfectly confident. What is the point of being overly modest, when you know you can rightly say something like that? is it just me?
I think that part of the responsibility that comes with being the best player on your team is that you must be the leader on and off the court. Tmac is simply doing his job: stepping up and being a vocal leader. Let's see how he leads on the court tonight.
you are completely right......your star should have that attitude....a true star takes his team on his back and down the road to victory.....that is all t-mac is saying when he says this is all on him.....AND I LIKE IT!!!
McGrady says it's his team in the US media and Yao says it's his team in the Chinese Media. I really like both guy's arrogance. Maybe if Yao get's comfortable with the American Media, he would start saying it's his team also and Mcgrady might do the same with the Chinese Media. I hope this arrogance carries over for both.
I don't recall yao ever saying anything about Rox being his team. And I don't see the arrogance........
I think Tmac is putting a lot of pressure on himself because of two reasons. One , it will motivate him to perform better. Secondly, I think it relieves Yao of some pressure. I think that's quite important, cuz Yao has media coverage from two continents dissecting his play as "the best center in the L". When tmac says it's his team, it prolly helps yao out a lil too... besides, it's not like Tmac is taking over the team (a la kobe)
Mac says he's ultimately responsible for this team if they lose, that's leadership not arrogance. Yao says he's looking forward to a revenge matchup against the Mavpricks. That's not arrogance that's confidence.
oh yea definately true, all that you said, im just pointing out how its so weird to see that nowadays, with all these athletes so concious about being overagressive...it just always strikes me when tmac does it and i love that he is so natural at it
I agree with you. I loved it when he came out talking like that. He seems to have an edge to him. The only thing I'm upset about is that he's only talking about getting out of the first round. Yao is talking about championships. But T-Mac might be scarred from his first round exits and wants to get that monkey off his back. Once that's gone then he'll probably talk about championships.
Lights are on him anyway...as long as he comes thru I don't see how this is a bad thing for the team! All eyez on T-Mac!
It's borderline arrogance, but probably more accurately described as T-Mac trying to dispel the claim that he is mentally weak. I actually think he is doing the right thing by being vocal now, because he has fewer chances left compared with Yao-- who I think is the true leader in all aspects of the term. The thing is T-Mac is just a nice easy going guy and never will be a killer type like Kobe. People think just because he always looks relaxed on the court and makes uncontroversial comments off court he is mentally weak. Well, I say just look at his performance, and stats if you will, but ultimately see whether he wins to back up the bravado. However, being partial to Yao that I am, I think Yao is the most dominant player on our team, if not the league in terms of 1on1 matchups. A good defender like the Matrix can neutralize T-Mac's efficiency, but not even Shaq can neutralize Yao's dominance. In short I hope we see the Rockets go far, in fact to the finals, see T-Mac get the 'zoo' off his back and see the unequivocal emergance of Yao as the true NBA superstar standard bearer that he is by crushing Shaq again in the finals!!!
As long as he walks the talk. He can be as arrogant as he wants. Getting to the next round is all that matters.
