Just heard on 610am that Mac is 75% sure that he will play tomorrow night. He felt a little better at practice today.

He said that if he does come back - it'll probably be off the bench.

Mac attack specifically said he feels better "mentally" today than he did yesterday. Said he just has to see how he feels tomorrow after todays workout.

    u know,

i 'd rather he does not play if he is not 100%...

it's even worse if he did play yet abandons the team during half-time and start crying again...

that will ruin the morale as well as the game plan..

so t-mac, stay on the bench if you are not 100%..

    ALTERNATIVE!!!!

he comes off bench for one game, liike the Kings did to Kevin Martin, during the frirst couple games he just returned from injury.

A guy just called in and said that tmac's "bone bruise" is actually a microfracture, and that we shouldnt expect him back any time soon. He stated that a bone bruise is essentially a microfacture.

    Who knows...time will only tell.

He wont play because he will have more "concerns and fatigue" in the real game.

Bone Bruise, I think, is also known as trabecular microfracture. So, the statement is technically correct. All bone bruises are "microfractures." But the key word here is "micro"-- meaning tiny. And it has nothing to do with the "microfracture surgeries" that guys like Kenyon Martin went through.

The microfracture surgeries are treatments for fairly serioius ligament injuries, I think, and they involve doctors actively drilling little holes in the bones in order to make allow the ligaments to grow into them and have a stronger connection upon recovery. The microfractures of the bones are actually not the reason why guys take long to recover from microfracture surgeries, the cause of the problem is the ligament injury.

Microfracture surgery is to grow cartilage.

If he's healthy enough, I mean really healthy, then he should play.
But if he's not he'll definatly hurt himself and the team. And that is not what we want, this would be the worst scenario ever to have T-Mac injured again.

So please doctors, make the correct decision !

And if that microfracture story is true (even though I highly doubt it, it would not cope at all with the all the storyline) then forget what I said.

Let's hope that he'll be healthy (soon or later), this is so important for T-Mac's career, and for the Rockets.

    My bad, cartilage. Not ligament.

In any case, the "microfracture" of the bone bruise is not anything nearly as searious as "microfracture surgery" used to fix cartilage damages.

the thing is too... the surgery doesnt even necessarily spawn new "cartilage" it the holes drilled into the bone scabs over and then that scab acts pretty much as cartilage...

Also something to consider is, do we really want to see TMac come back against the Spurs (even if he is about 80% ready) and be matched up against Bruce Bowen? The very same Bruce Bowen who has:

    * Intentionally placed his foot underneath where jump shooters will land (see Vince Carter, Jamal Crawford, Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant...)
    * Kicked Ray Allen in the back whilst he is on the ground
    * Tried to kick Amare Stoudamire in the achilles when Stoudamire is about to go up for a dunk
    * Kneed Steve Nash in the groin

I'm sure there are several other unsavoury incidents that he has been involved in, but that's just off the top of my head. Point is, I would be a little concerned that Bowen's going to go out and look to intentionally target McGrady's knee and do some permanent damage to him....

Apparently, Tracy McGrady can change directions after all.

A day after he could not finish practice and said he was unlikely to play Saturday against the San Antonio Spurs, he went through all of Friday's practice without problems and said after that he is 75 percent certain he would play.

"I'm better, better," McGrady said. "I was able to get through practice. There was a little bit of pain. Mentally, I was better than yesterday. It's coming along.

"I got to see how I feel tomorrow, come in for shootaround. If I feel good, I'll play tomorrow. There's a chance. There's a good chance I could play tomorrow."

McGrady has missed the Rockets' past 11 games because of a bone bruise, patellar tendinitis and a strained popliteus tendon in his left knee. He has been able to complete just one game since Dec. 15 and has missed more games with the injuries this season, 12, than he missed all of last season or in his first season, 2004-05, with the Rockets.

"I think because that was my first day back, getting up and down and in a contact practice, mentally I just wasn't able to get through it. Today was better on the mental side. Physically, I feel good. I went through the whole practice. It took me a while to get going because I was sore from yesterday, but once it loosened up, I was fine."

McGrady said he will "come off the bench for at least two games," though Rockets coach Rick Adelman said he has not yet given his rotation with McGrady a thought.

"I'll probably come off the bench," McGrady said. "Those guys have done such a great job starting off games and we have a good rhythm going on. I don't want to break that.

"Crazy things happen in this league. I would like when I first come back to be that kind of player I know I can be. I know I missed a lot of games and been out a while, my timing, my rhythm will probably be off. My conditioning, I'm good."

well, according to a lot of posters here, he's a total wuss for not playing since he is allegedly, in their minds, ready. however, if he is indeed injured like he claims and comes back and gets hurt worse or plays a subpar game because of it, he is branded a crappy, jumpshooting shell of his former self.

it's a no-win situation, unless he is 90-100% healthy. I hope he is, and we win, and I can go back to reading about how the coach should play certain scrubs instead of 100 TMac threads :p

T-mac coming off the bench wouldn't be bad! If his ego could take it I would experiment with that, our offense has been clicking so we don't need him to score anymore. He can come off and play in the 4th or in times where we can't score.
