on NBA fast break they just had a heated discussion about whether tmac is an MVP candidate. it was interesting to note tim legler said tmac is a top five candidate. greg anthony said thats "bilarky" a mixture of bizzerk and another word, but did say he is a top ten candidate.
Leglar think he is a top 5 MVP candidate. Greg Anthony thinks that it is a bunch of "Balarkey" about Tracy, but would consider him a top 10 candidate. Stephen A. says that since Yao has been slow to develop, Tracy might not be a top 5 candidate, but he should definetly be considered.
Yah, basically here is what happened... Tim Legler (the Rockets ass-kisser he is ) said that he thinks T-Mac is an MVP candidate for the way the Rockets are playing since January, he put up some stats and stuff on the screen to back up his argument, and I think he was right on in some things. He said T-Mac took the heat early on in the season when the Rockets were struggling and showed leadership in taking Yao Ming under his wing and helping him come along and develop, then he said that he thinks T-Mac has "shed all the labels" that were attached to his name from previous experiences in Orlando. G-Money said that he thinks that is not the case, and believes Dirk is in the top 5, but that he doesn't mean this as "a knock against Tracy", but he does think T-Mac is "top ten" Stephen A. Smith scuffed at G-Money's suggestion that T-Mac is not an MVP candidate because of "Dirk Nowitzki" (he said it in a typical disgusted voice when he said Dirk's name). He said that he too does NOT think T-Mac is top 5, but NOT because of Dirk. He think neither players are top 5 candidates, but said that he believes Dirk and T-Mac are on equal footing as far as how much they would be considered for an MVP award. He just vehemently objected to Greg Anthony's assertion that Dirk is better than McGrady as far as the MVP considerations are concerned.
Well since I watch the Rockets more..and Dirk is just Dirk..and I know Dirk is really valuable.. Well I am a Rockets fan..and viewing the games of this season, I think Tmac could be selected as MVP of 2004-2005 NBA season. I hope so! Co-MVPs?
i dont think he will get the MVP simply because of shaq's impact on the heat and more than anything the publicity that nash and shaq have recieved for their accomplishments. this is the first time that i have heard a national media source even mention tmac is an mvp candidate, but it goes to show how much he has changed his reputation and how much people are seeing that he is not the before advertised guy who is lazy and doesnt put in the work (somewhere i can hear wiesbrod saying damn i shouldnt have traded him ).
Well I don't know what other players' stats are but I know Tmac has some pretty good statistics. And haven't the Rockets had the second best record the second half of this season? In the beginning..we were just becoming a team. Tmac has been amazing. But yeah I think Shaq and Nash..Dirk and maybe Duncan? are probably more likely to be selected MVP. I guess that'd make Tmac #5? So top 5
Unless Dallas totally falls apart and the Rockets surge all the way to the #4 spot in the west, there is no way T-mac wins the MVP. I feel and iam sure most would agree that its a two horse race between Nash and Shaq. It would, however, be nice if T-mac finished in the top 5.
You guys are really homer! No one should even be mentioned as a MVP candidate with FGP < 50%. Think about it, you are missing more than half of the shots you put up there. Basketball is a team sports. When you put up that many shots with such a low %, you set up your team for failure!
I never considered Iverson a great player. Yes, he is an individual talent, just like Maburry, but not a great team player.
I disagree, Iverson is a very underrated...and yes, a good...team player. BTW, the argument was about players with less then 50% field goal and also win that debunks your observation. I'll throw out another name...Jordan. Just like Barkley said one time (can't believe I'm agreeing with him)..."My airballs are way better shots then Joe Kleine's bricks". (It was along those lines and I'm not too sure it was really Kleine he mentioned, but you get the point.)
