Forget the Princeton system, or whatever, TMAC thinks we are becoming a team like the Pistons(I believe he meant the Pistons couple seasons ago when they won the champions). I feel pretty interested in. Link: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/recap;_ylt=Ajgvyv04HGgyWkmIwCPe0Ri8vLYF?gid=2008021905&prov=ap
i think we're a little better in the sense that we still have 2 great 1-on-1 players (pistons have no one that u have to double almost every play). but i think he's commenting on the fact that we consistently have 4-5 guys in double figures EVERY game and always find contributions from the bench. we no longer live and die by tmac/yao. now they can struggle and we can still pull out games. if we had this group of role players last yr, man, we could have won the championship (or get there )
This is team basketball! It not on Tmac now come this playoffs. We will be rocking the west! Carl Landry and CHuck Hayes would be the Ben Wallace in terms of hustle, Shane Battier > T Prince, Scola < Wallace because of experience, Tmac > Rip Hamilton, Rafer Alston < Chauncy Billups but almost equal for the past 5 games and Yao > any center they will give.. Anyway.. Tmac just emphasized they won as a team..
Well they might not have someone who you have to double every play, but I guarantee you when the game is on the line, either Billups or Wallace have to be doubled otherwise they will burn you (moreso Wallace).
Rafer Alston is nowhere near Chauncey Billups as a player. Yao is much better on the offensive side of the glass, but that Rasheed/Ben Wallace backcourt was just sick on D - also a great duo on the boards. Prince is just better than Battier. No explanation needed. ( I hope) McGrady's shot has been off while Hamilton was one of the best mid range shooters in the league. TBH, I don't think we have that much in common with them.
i agree that the rockets philosophy is to be a great defensive team and share the ball on offense. however, the pistons have 3 all stars and prince. the rockets have 2 all stars and no one who comes close to prince's skill level. maybe he's saying that he wants ron artest to become our sheed.
While the offense was struggling, they were able to rely on their defense to come through at the end. And Adelman's systems and previous teams have always leaned to more distributed scoring from all positions rather then having everything rely on 1-2 players. I can see the comparison to a degree. We still have a long way to go though. As Bill Murray in Ghostbusters said, "We have the tools, we have the talent..."
It's like the Pistons in that any of the 5 players has the ability to dump 20 pts on your head on any given day.
I think tmac also refers to the intensity and the energy with veteran approach that the detroit team had. We could'nt really compare our team to them by specific players. But I also think that we are portraying the character of that team. We could be a detroit rockets but we know we could be better than them! Keep on Believeing!!!
