Saw this on the front page of ESPN NBA and it's an insider with Chad Ford take on the 2005 free-agent class. Anyone know what's the deal?
I'm pretty sure that's the terms of his current contract. What he just signed with the Rockets is an extension, but I guess that his restricted free agent status for next summer is still intact. Remember, the whole deal with Orlando was that he was going to be a free agent at the end of this season. I guess that's still the case but maybe someone like Gater can give more detail.
He's supposed to be signing a max extension next month, is what I've been hearing. I don't believe he's going to be a RFA next year anyway. If he was, he wouldn't really have the ability to just walk and join another team. Unless you think the Magic or Rockets wouldn't match a max deal (6 yr/ 80 mill) that would be less than what they could offer (7/90). Evan
