ok someone mentioned tmac usually gets slow starts.. i agree he has looked like a shell of his former self.. and i really feel he let us down tonight in our loss... he had 5 TO's and shot poorly.. if he turned the ball over less and made a few more shots we would of won.. anyways everygame i keep hoping tmac breaks out to the tmac we had in 04. but each game i am just dissapointed. .but i still have faith and some hope.. and after seeing these stats i think this will maybe give everyone some more hope and relief.. check out his last season in orlando .. his first 5 games he shot 32%!!!! 32/95 FG!!!

    http://www.databasebasketball.com/players/playerlog.htm?yr=2003&ilkid=MCGRATR01

and then he follwoed up with a 51 pt game!!
hmm well the other years he had a lot better starts.. but im still hoping tmac hasnt lost a thing.... lets just all wait and see

yes but that was 3 years ago. i think there is more of a concern coming off an injury plagued year. the past 2 years he has started out well. all of us are panicky because we want to see results NOW. it will take time.

Do we really need this thread. It's obvious Tmac sucks right now and yes if he had less turnovers and shot better the Rockets would have won last night. It's no coincidence the Rockets played their best game when Tmac was on the bench. When he is on the court he is the second option on the team and he is not delivering. I too am hopeful he will come around but until he does he is hurting this team and all your wishful thinking is just that. Here's too your wishes being answered.

Sure that's definitely something to consider. But how do you explain his 1st preseason game performance?

(EDIT: make it his 1st two preseason game performace)

My point is TMac's problem appears to be more mental than physical.

precisely, you just can't not do something for awhile and expect to be the same right away

But the excuse of PRE-SEASON doesn't explain very well his subsequent deteriorating performance starting from preseason game number 3 to regular season game 3, does it?

If we assume nothing particularly went wrong with his body (back), it's gotta be mental. No?

i love tmac but i feel like he is unfailry closing our window too early.

the rest of the team (except for deke, jho, rafer) could last like 6 years or so. tmac has 3 good years left in him, and that's asusming he picks his game up this year.

his play concerns me a lot. he was the one that said he was ready for the season, 100% healthy, ready to be the tmac of old...

i would seriously consider a trade if this kept up through all-star break.

unfortunately his stock is declining. he still has potential to regain his old former glory but i dont know. i think other teams would be scared to take on the rest of his 4 year max contract. tho not as low as amare's stock tmac is falling fast

you guys are tripping.... tmac played like **** in the 04-05 season the first 17 games.. when we fell to 6-11... then he had that 48 ppoint game in dallas and it's all good... if you haven't figured it out by now, let me enlighten you.

T-mac is a streaky and flow of the game player.. that's why his free throws are not that great.. the thing about him is that is streaks are so great that you would think he's a great shooter when he's "feeling it" or in one of those 13 in 35 moments.. he is built to take over a game at certain points and if he can get to that level of confidence and flow, he will seem very consistent and all these complaints will stop.

He's still quick & a smart decition maker. It'll only be a matter of time before he gets his shot back.

I absolutely can not wait for Tmac to drop 40 on someone so that all of this mania will stop. How can anyone reach conclusions after 3 games of play. I understand that we live in a very impatient society that has a "what have you done for me lately" attitude, but it doesn't take a geinius to understand that 3 games out of 82 is not very significant.

Tmac showed some flashes of greatness in the third quarter. He's on his way. Even his own coach who sees him every day in practice is not concerned. You guys get too caught up in the lows of a loss. We are truly lucky to have two great players on our team and we take it for granted. I mean I guess I understand the frustration, but Tmac is not too far removed from putting up MVP-like numbers. He may never return to that level of dominance, but he is still a great player. One of the league's besy. His shot is just not in rhythm right now, but that will come in time. He has shown that quick first step and the ability to get the ball to the open man. He could have easily had 10 assists. So even if the guy is struggling with his shot he still has a huge impact on the game. Give him a break.

People here should be more like that positive thinker, Jeff Van Gundy who said: "I believe in his greatness".

Seriously, everyone goes through slumps. This is just a slump coming off of a long layoff. He's 27, for goodness sake! No one's game permanently deteriorates at that age. The old Tmac will be back soon.

actually 3 out of 82 is getting up there.. what happens if he slumps for another few games.. .
3 out of 82 is almost 4% of the total games and we need these wins now cause it will come back and haunt us in the end of the year.
anyways I sure hope tmac picks it up. I agree maybe its a bit early to judge him and of course everyone still has hope on him. It's just a concern since he is our best player when he plays at his best.

Easy... you ever not play ball for a long period and then get back on the court? Inevitably, you'll have a great first game and feel really good The next time you go ballin' you absolutely suck. And that continues for awhile until you work your way back to where you were before you stopped playing. Time and more games are all that is needed

Exactly! I think a lot of his shooting problem stem from rust more so than anything else, it'll come back.

On the floor he still moves very well and doesn't seem to have any problem moving quickly, it's just a matter of time before he breaks out
