was Tracy similar to Durant when he came into the NBA?

    Similarities? Differences?

    Strengths? Weaknesses?

    Thanks!

Tracy wasn't as hyped as Durant coming in. Then came out of nowhere as he progressed.

Durant is less explosive than Tracy and is more of a silky smooth jump shooter, but has higher bball IQ and keeps his mouth shut.

Tracy was on the bench. That's a difference right?

The answer is in your question. Their only similarity was their weakness.

Wasnt Tmac super raw when he was drafted.

Pretty much used him as a defensive stopper next to Carter

Then he went to Orlando and kicked ass

They are extremely different, I don't see how Durant "patterned" his game after Tmac at all.

Tmac was known more for being Carter's cousin and was used as a defensive stopper. Durant has been a scorer from Day 1. Tmac was never efficient his entire career, his value came from his all around play, great court vision, handles and playmaking ability. On the other hand Durant's biggest weaknesses now would be his handles and his passing, which really needs work. On the other hand he shoots the ball at a clip Tmac can only dream off.

Tmac was probably Durant's idol growing up, but in terms of skillset they are very different.

Durant had and has love for the game

    T-Mac didn't (still don't)

They are completely different players, not even close to similar styles

    Similarities
Tall, long wingspan, shoot over defenders
Fluid movements especially at that size
    Excellent ball handling
    Shot that looks effortless
    Unlimited range, multifaceted scoring ability
Can score from anywhere on the floor
Slender build (obviously KD is much thinner)

    Differences
T-Mac much better at passing and slightly better defensive ability, more athletic overall, quicker first step, more all around player
KD has a slightly better shot, more focused on rebounding, less flashy, more of a pure scorer/shooter

one of them went to college and developed as a player and teammate

the other went straight to the nba and got jealous that his cousin was so popular

Durant has the drive to be the best player in the league and he's humble.

TMac has been fat in training camp every year since he got the extension from Rox.

Actually, he was in the best shape of his career in 05-06. Then his back gave out on him after he put on too much muscle.

Anyways, McGrady was a much better ballhandler/playmaker than Durant.

One earned some Clutchfans the right to repeat tired cliches and hi-five each other; the other is a growing global icon who performed well on a big stage this summer.
