Wanted to make a different thread about the motion offense separate from the "Rate the players in motion offense" thread because it's TMac and Artest that are the main problems with the motion offense. In a nutshell, these two don't really like to keep the "motion" going by continuing to pass the ball. Often, when they receive the ball, they just hold it or dribble it, and instantly kill the motion offense. And when they don't have the ball, they don't cut or slash either but kind of like to just stand in their spot! To top it off, Artest has played under Adelman before so I don't know why Artest likes to go off and "do his thing." The worst part is when TMac and Artest are on the floor - the motion offense grinds to a complete halt and it's pretty much whatever offense TMac and Artest can dream up at that point.
Artest especially, because Tracy can at least create for others. Artest can't pass worth a shuck either.
Playing one of them at a time isn't going to solve the problem either. They need to be benched until they learn the freaking offense. They blew the lead the second unit got for them. They're going to get the Rockets killed in the playoffs with this garbage.
Yep. But don't tell the apologists this. They're strained to the point of flipping out on the board. Anyone that points out the obvious bad basketball they're playing is clearly "clueless", followed by a stream of expletives. You also must not be a real Rockets fan. LOL. Evan
Rafer is scrambling around the court drawing attention, and no one else will move in reponse except guys like Scola, Wafer, and Barry. T-Mac and Ron just stand flat footed calling for the ball, the defense doesn't have to try at all to guard a guy just standing there.
More Artest than Mac, but they both really slow it down because they are both slow players. Mac and Artest never run for layups they run for 3 pointers. When they have a big guy guarding them, they dont drive they settle for 3's. Rafer Alston is just erratic period. RA needed to play the bench to close the game, period !!
BTW, we were running the motion offense pretty well when TMac and Artest were out. There is a good reason the team was flowing well when the both of them sat out. The 4th quarter tonight against the Knicks was just ugly ... no motion, and we ended up taking tough shots, especially from the outside.
don't say artest, it's just tmac who killed our motion offense. tmac should play on a team which is made up of other 14 craps and himself, then he is the only talented play on his team so that no one would blame him to wasting shots and killing his team.
What, you guys don't like Ron's leaning, off-balance three pointers with a defender in his face, or Tracy's 2 1/2 pointers he takes from 3 inches inside the 3 point line? You don't like their failed crossovers? You don't like how they have zero elevation going to the rim? You don't love Ron's tunnel vision? You guys are not real Rockets fans.
Artest is guilty as well. Rewatch the 4th quarter tonight. Artest stands in one spot and doesn't cut or slash. Also, when Artest has the ball, he just holds it or dribbles it. I don't recall too many plays where Artest passed the ball after receiving it to find another open player.
This game is completely on both of them. But I'm not going to say the sky is falling and we have to get rid of one or both of them. Give them some practice time and an opportunity to get back into the system before we call for their heads. If they still play like this, have at it.
Im telling you, trade Artest for a shooter (Ray Allen type) and we will be so good. I can see McGrady dishing out to the shooter or Yao kicking it out as well..
I think Artest has good intentions. He wants to make an impact and help the team. I just think he isn't aware of how to do that sometimes, specifically on the offensive end. It's good to be aggressive but putting your head down and going 1-on-3 is rarely a good option. Shooting off balance 3s isn't a good idea either. Ron is a good 3pt shooter when he's open and his feet are set but he shouldn't be shooting fall away 3s with a hand in his face unless it's a last resort. I think he took about 5 of those tonight.
If I wasn't so depressed we allowed the knicks, who were 0-21 when being behind in the 4th, come back and beat us, I'd laugh.
