TJ ford is way too good for this Longhorn team, he needs a few more athletes to play with him. This guy is so good at playing PG that I would trade Cuttino for him right now and move Steve to the 2 guard. Man, is he good. The problem is that outside of James Thomas he has no one that can really play at his level. Wow !! DaDakota
Dakota, you're forgetting that the Horns are 4-0 without All-American PF Chris Owens. Not to mention that Mo Evans left early for the NBA. TJ has taken over and made it clear that this is his team. Royal Ivey has been shooting well this year. Fredie Williams may be the toughest defender in the NCAAs. James Thomas has seriously stepped up without Owens. And despite his poor second half, Brandon Mouton can be explosive and is only a sophomore. We've got one of the best HS forwards coming here from Westlake, Brian Buckman. Just wish Bracey Wright had chosen us over Indiana. Few people will argue that Rick Barnes is the best coach on campus and he is effectively utilizing TJ's talent.
Fredie Williams - Senior James Thomas - Sophomore Brandon Mouton - Sophomore Royal Ivey - Sophomore Brian Boddicker - Sophomore Jason Klotz - RS Freshman Sydmill Harris - Freshman TJ Ford - Freshman This team is only going to get better and better.
LOL, there is no way Cuttino would agree to this. He would have to live in a dorm, and give up the cash. Of course, there are those UT co-eds to consider. (mmmmmmmmmm, UT co-eds) Maybe he would agree after all.
Huh? Ford is 5'10", skinny, and can't shoot. I don't see him playing in the NBA at this point. I think that's great for Texas though, they shouldn't have to worry about him ever leaving school early.
Freak, The PG does not have to be a great shooter, look at Kidd and Tinsley. Heck....Cuttino can't shoot either and that doesn't stop him from playing 2 guard. DD
Disagree on Cuttino's shooting ability. He can shoot very well, but his decision to when to shoot is often flawed. If TJ was a rocket, he'd probably see the more minutes at the point than Francis. Francis would see more minutes at SG than Mobley. Mobley would probably play SF 2/3 of the time. Its very simple with TJ. When he penetrates, he'll score two points unless help defense shows up. When help defense shows up (since it always does), he hits the open man instead of trying to win the game by himself. He really needs to extend his shot, but is highly effective on his pull up jumper and finishing when he needs to.
Slightly off-topic, but Texas is now rated #4 in the RPI's behind Kansas, Arizona, and Duke. Of course, that will drop as we play the crap of the league in the next several games.
I think you're showing your anti-UT side again. Ford will play in the nba, although I think he should wait a couple more years. He leads the country in assists.
Since when is TheFreak anti-UT? I guess he got tickets for us and Major to the OSU and Kansas games so he could root against the Horns?
Not only am I anti-UT in this thread, but I've apparently showed that side before. Go figure. I have not seen Ford hit consistently from the outside. He's shooting 43% from the field, and I reckon a good number of those are inside the free throw line. It's probably too early to tell, but my early feeling is he's not good enough to have to worry about him leaving school early. THIS IS GOOD. I'M GLAD. What's good about the team is it's made up of a bunch of good college players, but none that are a threat to leave school early. That's awesome.
I'm with you on that. Mo Evans was such a dumb-ass for leaving early last year. That guy either got some really bad advice, or he severely overestimated his own talent. Same with Chris Mihm, although not to the extreme of Evans. I think Texas would have made it at least past the first round last year if they had still had Mihm like they should have.
using last year's selection committee criteria, that should be good for about a 12 seed in the tournament. and i couldn't believe when i saw Ford was leading the nation in assists with 9.1 with the second place guy only having 7.6 i think.
deepellumrocket, Darren Kelly was "tearing up" some predraft camps and telling Evans how easy it was. In light of this, Evans was persuaded to enter the draft.
Really? I hadn't heard about this. What DK up to these days? He's not showing up on the nba.com player list, so I assume he's not on a roster, so I would say that, yes, Mo got some bad advice.
Hey Major where did you see Texas at #4 in the RPI. I just went to ESPN and clicked on the RPI poll and it had us at 14.
