I love his energy but is he really a Top 5 Pick, his strengths seem to remind me of Tyus Edney, expect Tyus won a NCAA Title. I would love for him to have a jumper. Fast , Small and No Jump Shot nooooooot what the Rockets need, We need a Ray Allen TYPE GUARD or someone who can flat ass shoot the rock!!!! Maggette for the mce would be the trick !!!
maggette would be nice. alot of people here want piatkowski but if you read his stats hes shooting 44% for his 9 year career. maggette in 4 seasons is shooting 45.5%. only this year did piatkowskis fg% get in the high 40's. could be a fluke.... we'd be lucky to get either one tho.
Just incase you dont realise it we are not looking for a Point Guard to be a serious scoorer. He needs to be a playmaker and know how to pass the ball at the right time and at the right place.
IMO, Jay Williams will be a bust before TJ will ever be. Just look at Jay, he was benched because of JAMAL CRAWFORD plus doesnt hurt that I am a TJ fan.
I don't see how a point guard that can't shoot outside of 15 feet can be player of the year. David West should've been the Chevy's Player of the year (atleast the AP got it right)). Yes, TJ is a floor general and he is the quickest guy in college and he can drive and dish and his defense is ok and yes the little guy has heart. But when you apply that to the NBA, TJ is a boy amongst men. TJ is only 5'10" and you want him to play the same backcourt as Steve!!? Whos going to guard the likes of Ray Allen and Micheal Finely muchless Kobe and Tmac? Steve? Jay Williams is a better player than TJ in EVERY ASPECT! And I much rather have Jay Williams than TJ anyday. TJ will be good but I see him as another Damon stoudamire with a little less range and touch. Or maybe a taller version of Earl Boykins without his shot.
That's a really good point, which kinda makes me think that your a freakin' genius!! No but seriously I totally agree. I say the only way we draft for Ford is if we trade Francis for the likes of Brand, or somehow we trade him for a good starting shooting guard.
But if that PG can't shoot, defenses will lay off of him, play the passing lanes and bog up the middle thereby decreasing his effectiveness. There's a reason Jason Kidd got traded twice. Before his shot got a little more dependable, he just wasn't as effective. Avery Johnson is a great floor general and that;s about what TJ Ford will be if he can't improve his jumper.
I agree he might not fit in houston, but he will be a success in the nba he played with many nba players who were impressed, and I have folled him very well since his sophmore year at willowridge this kid will be very special to the right team, he's the best college play maker since Kidd, and he dominated the player of the year awards, taking numerous awards. Not to mention lead a team that shot 32% his freshman year, to the final four the very next year. His jumpshot has improved every year and will continue to improve due to the great work ethic he has. It's all simple he make good things happen, without making dumbass mistakes.
Ideally I think we need a 6-4 -6-6 guy who can run the team at point and play D.TJ is a special plyer though and even though the back court would be small, team defense could make up for it...Besides TJ can D up bigtime.True we would get posted up,but there would be countless fastbreaks and he can control tempo. You put a guy like that with Yao,and you have two guys that have great court awareness and a feel for the game.Perfect for running the offense...and then Steve can go off the chain at the two.
Jay Williams had a good start, he got rookie of the month for the november but he just trailed off. I think its due to Bill Cartwright, he looks like he has a stick up his a$$. Even Eddie Curry was complaining how Cartwright was mistreating him. I'll take Jay Williams for almost anybody on the team except for Yao and Steve.
