There is an article from realgm.com about TJ wprking out for Miami earlier in the week. What is interesting is towards the ennd it mentions Houston as another place TJ willwork out. I know that there were rumors about us trying to move and draft him, I wonder does this mean we are interested? Would we be able to move up if JVG falls in love with this kid (or is JVG already back in NYC?). I hope that TJ shows his stuff and forces the Rox to do whatever they have to to get him. I've watched the guy for three years from the state tournament to the final four and this kid is legit. I love Cuttino, but if we could parlay Cat and others (Cato? Taylor?) into TJ and Grant I would $hit. TJ would do more for getting fans to come to the new arena than Yao or Steve have EVER been able to just because of his UT ties (we are VERY loyal to our fellow 'Horns). Well, what do you guys think? Is there something to this or what?

He went to school in Austin. Prospects who went to school near an NBA team tend to give that pro team the benefit of a workout - it happens very often.

I wouldn't read anything into it, namely because the Rockets probably don't have what it'd take to get to #4 and get him.

Here's what you were talking about...Miami Herald Article

''People have their own opinions,'' said Ford, who averaged 15 points and 7.7 assists last season. ``If someone feels that I'm not capable of playing because of my height, I know what I'm capable of doing. I don't worry about what people say.''

Ford's 40.1 percent field-goal percentage also has caused some trepidation, but Ford has been working with a shooting coach in hopes of improving his accuracy.

''My form was just off and I had to get in the gym and correct it,'' he said.

Ford plans to make visits to Houston and Milwaukee before the end of the week, he said.

    Also from the article...

For Blake, the predraft workouts are priceless.

The 6-3, 172-pounder is considered by many to be a long shot to be drafted. He likely was brought in as a targeted rookie free agent signing.

''I'm a pure point guard and I've always won,'' Blake said when asked about his best qualities. ``Everywhere I've been, I've won games -- from high school right to college.''

Blake's workout was his fifth, and he is scheduled to work out for New Jersey, Orlando, Washington, Houston and Boston before the draft.

Clearly, I wuld think this means the Rockets plan to do SOMETHING about their backcourt situation...

You do know he's from Houston, right? Anyways, I don't think there's much to read into this unless he blows the staff away.

I wouldn't put it past TJ to blow away any staff in the NBA. The guy just plays at another speed. TJ has Jason Kidd's game in Tony Parker's body. I know that it isn't going to happen (TJ coming to H-Town), but there is a chance and if we make the right offer we could get him. We need an H-town boy on the team anyway.

I always said T.J had Jason Kidd's game in Iversons body. I think T.J may be a little quicker than Iverson.

I know TJ would be the local kid made good, but if you're gonna go all the way why not go for the established star and get Jason Kidd? That way you could trade Cat (good riddance), and move Franchise over to the 2. Makes sense to me. You talk about a kick-a$$ front court!!!

Didn't know Kidd and Francis were big men ;)

But in any case - getting Kidd would cost Francis, not Mobley. Why? Rockets have no cap leverage.

I posted Trade involing TJ to the Rockets, from Mimai. from a scoop. But you know JVG's Brother is an Asst with Pat Riley. and JVG use to be and Asst under Riley, so there are strong ties there. So will see.

I would love to get TJ Ford but playing rookies kinda goes against JVG's style (unless the player managed to contribute right away, as many believe TJ will).

Still, the only way to get TJ Ford is to trade Cuttino to Miami for the #5 pick (MIami will have the capspace if the Heat renounce Zo) OR a trade with Toronto OR some sort of trade in which we lose Steve Francis, which I don't know will happen, because we're so desperately trying to fill seats in the new arena.

Hometown boy on the Rox, though, 't'would be nice.

Maybe he will slip to the pick we have now.

He's slated to go around 4-5, I doubt he'll slip to the second round.

    I wouldn't be so sure.

WORD IS TEXAS POINT GUARD T.J. FORD'S STOCK is tumbling, because of his lack of size and strength. He measured at a good height -- 6-0 -- in Chicago, but one source says he could not bench press 185 pounds.

...just kidding...we don't got a snowflake's chance in hell at Ford (which I think is a good thing), but I do see him falling.

I saw that too, but you know how teams at this time of the year start spreading stories, hoping to make a player drop to them: "Did you hear that T.J. Ford is a member of Al Qaeda?"

And then, at the draft: "T.J. Ford goes to Milwaukee at #8, despite his allegiance to Al Qaeda, George Karl thought he would be worth the risk..."

I still would like to get the kid. More of a pure point than Steve. But, alas, you'd have to trade Steve probably.

for what it's worth, some poster at a UT website posted an Insider article from another website that reported the Raptors are leaning toward Chris Bosh with the 4th pick. apparently, he was really impressive in his workout with them.

if TJ slips to Miami at 5, the whole Rocket trade thing seems much more plausible.

but I don't know if TJ is quite right for us. the neck thing, the height thing, the Francis thing. . . it might be too risky.

if we could get that pick for Mobley, Taylor, and Rice, then sure, I'd do it.

but if we have to give up Mobley and Griffin, I'd get squeamish.

If we got Eddie Jones or Brian Grant and T.J. out of it, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
