First I want to say this is just pure speculation on my part. Today, I remembered something Doc posted a few weeks ago about what the Rockets would be doing to fill their PG spot. The things that jumped out to me, and alot of people who read it, were three phrases in all caps: COME FROM NOWHERE BEAT THE :08... DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE So, I looked at what other teams have at the point and who we would not think of, who is not untouchable, and fit these phrases. I then came across the Bucks and TJ Ford. Here are some things that make sense or match up to what Doc said: 1) Bucks have 3 PGs on their team right now (Mike James, Erik Strickland & Brevin Knight), not counting Ford, and they have made an offer to Mo Williams formerly of the Jazz. Again, this does not count Ford. I understand Ford's injury, but it still seems like too many PGs. 2) CD has said on more than one occasion that they would be fine with Lue as their starter. He might be trying to make sure us, as fans, know that they are confident in Lue starting till Ford comes back 100%. 3) Doc's Post "OUT OF NOWHERE" - split NOWHERE into two words. NOW HERE. TJ Ford is from Sugar Land and, I'm pretty sure, that he still resides in his home town, especially while rehabiliting his injury. 4) Doc's Post "BEAT THE :08" - He was drafted 8th over all. Pretty much a number match 5) Doc's Post "DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE, DRIBBLE" - The only thing I can come up with is that he was at UT for 3 years before he came out. Not sure why the Rockets would be taking so long to make this deal, unless they are monitoring his progress this summer or that one or more of the guys we got from the Magic are involved in the trade. I know the Bucks are deep at center and need depth at the SG/SF. There are others on this board who are better at coming up with fair, salary matching proposals than I can so I will leave specifics up to y'all, but is it possible we have a deal in the works that we receive Ford and one of their big men? Anyway, it's been a pretty quiet offseason since the BIG trade and I'm obviously bored. Thoughts?
Wow, you put a lot of thought into Doc's post. But getting TJ would be tough, even though they have 3 PGs, none of them are starters.
If this is true, I would be dissapointed. Ford can't shoot for ****, and I don't know if he can set up halfcourt sets. He's more the type of player than needs to run at a break-neck pace, something Yao can't do and JVG won't do. Also, his defense is poor, and I think he's actually smaller than Lue. I don't know. I like Ford, really, he's a favorite of mine, but on the Rockets? I would rather pass.
It's funny you should ask. There is a strange guy named Osama that just moved in next door to me. I think he has ALOT of business associates from around the country. There seems to be a new pair of guys that come to meet him every week, and they always ask for directions to the airport.
someone from the bucks would make a lot of sense because in his last post he emphasized MAD BOMBER which could equal MILWAUKEE BUCKS. TJ Ford is likely the guy and i bet Juwon Howard is involved in the trade.
I think there's a "so you're telling me there's a chance" of this happening. I really doubt that the Buck will give up on Ford already, and I'd be shocked if the Rox was counting on him to be the starting PG with his back situation.
Doc is clearly talking about Antonio Daniels. He came out of nowhere.. Bowling Green, and he is having issues with Nate McMillan on how he handles the ball. Nate likes Ridnour's game far better and will be incorporating Luke even moreso than he did towards the end of the season last year. Nate isn't thrilled with how he holds onto the ball. He likes quick decisive guards that make good passes; it keeps the offense flowing and thus, more effective. Notice I'm not saying "I think it's Antonio Daniels" . It is Antonio Daniels. Not sure what the significance is with the 8 seconds part. Things are a bit up in the air involving this scenario to happen now. Damon Jones signed with Miami even though Rick Sund had an offer on the table for him. Smart move on his part to get more exposure in Miami though. It's going to be interesting how the chips fall in the next couple months.
if we wanted a PG that was a risk to retire due to injury, Jay Williams was released by the Bull last winter... just sign him
Doc's usage of the "OR" (see above) would imply that he may not be referencing AD in the above character trait, but instead someone that has not been kicked around prior (Ford perhaps). I'm not arguing with you, because I think it is AD too, but mogrod (who has put more thought into Doc's post than I put into getting my next serving of P...whaaaa) clearly could be onto something here. Only Doc or Berman's confirmation would make me believe, but I don't think that this is WELL outside the realm of possibility, just outside the realm of possiblity.
Those two traits rule out Ford. He can't hit the outside shot and he's not relatively young, he's just young.
I missed this one (reference to MAD BOMBER), but given that I subscribe to AD being the Rox new point guard...I would point out that AD physically (in apperance) reminds me of one Mad Max who was very much known as a bomber. I would think it's a reference to AD, who looks much like Max, a MAD BOMBER*, than it would be to Milwaukee. I missed the thread and this may have been pointed out previously - so anyone here can welcome me to Yesterday and I'd understand. * Bomber in the sense that he would perpetually launch 3's, sometimes jettison into the crowd to attempt kill fat @ss jazz fans, and also he was known to launch 3's. He will go down as my favorite, on the court, Rocket personality of all-time....well he and Sir Chas'.
