Moochie, Tierre, Langhi and Oscar? What's the thinking with this pick, we wanted a real pg finally? Also, this guy hasn't played for a year.
He did play last year, but I think it was for the USBL or something. I like the idea of having a third PG that can slide to the 2 if need be. That's why I liked the Damon Jones pick up last year, even though we eventually cut him loose.
As I understand it Maddox signed with the Phoenix Eclipse of the ABA but did not play in any games. I have not seen anything regarding why he did not - injury, coach's decision, not in attendance, etc. As I recall he also sat out his first year in college due to grades. Thus he really only played in one of the last three seasons.
Tito was caught earlier for taking money, items, etc from an agent and suspended 6-8 games. That was his first year at Frenso State. I believe he won Freshman of the Year honors in their conference. He entered the 2001 NBA draft but withdrew before the deadline. I think he wanted to play another year but got caught again for taking money from an agent. The NCAA declared him ineligible for the 2001-2002 season.
Brown may the the odd man out. Tito has tremendous talent and IMO its his job to lose at backup PG. Langhi is as good as gone. His contract is up and the Rockets have never given him a chance to play, except in summer leagues and to boost his trade value. Torres had some moments and can stick since he could play SF as well as SG.
I agree. Tierre and Langhi are gone. Oscar could stay, but his job is the least secure of all the guys I anticipate coming back. Yao, Cato, Collier, MoTay, Eddie, KT, Rice, Nachbar, TMo, Cat, Steve and Mooch are all under contract and all stay unless moved in a trade. But I don't anticipate any trades this offseason. Two out of Maddox, Collier and Oscar will have a strain of some sort as long as everyone else is healthy. I think Oscar is the most likely to avoid the IR list because Cat and Steve are the only ones who can play 2.
I think you called it pretty close only I think Oscar's on the bubble. If they can find another veteran free agent for a couple mil that's willing to come off the bench and contribute and off the court can bring some leadership then I suspect torres will be the odd man out. I know he has potential but just too much youth on this team right now and Torres is still a bit of a project.
Maybe not even a veteran 2 but another project who wasn't drafted? They only let someone else play the two for about five minutes a game anyways.
Thats true Woofer about the playing time. But that's why I think they'll keep Torres. A vet wouldn't want to play behind Mobley b/c he would get NO minutes so we might as well keep Torres just to have a backup SG.
