I don't see enough of him to make a comparison between Tito and Moochie. But I'm fed up with all the dribbling crap from Moochie. Why not just give him a chance to prove himself? And SF seems to have trouble guarding a smaller opponent. He seemed to be a quick and good ball handler in the preseason. He could give the team a spark in defense wise.
I said this earlier this year. I wish Mooch were behind Tito in the rotation. Tito is a much better defender, and I really believe that Moochie plays too much like Steve. Tito would be someone who is looking to push the ball up the floor and get into a transition game, not to mention he is a pass first player. I think Tito is our future...now if we can package MoT and Mooch for some chocolate covered peanuts we would have a deal. DD
I haven't see n enough to really say for sure, but he seemed to be a little out-of-control with the ball during the pre-season. His defense is better than Steve's, but do we really think he can distribute the ball the way we all want? I wouldnt mind seeing him play some to see if he can out-perform Mooch. Probably wont happen till after Mo comes back, Collier has been activated, and I wouldn't want to see Boki go to IR just to check out Tito some more.. Bottom line, we are stuck with Mooch for a while..
In fact, if my memory serves me right, Sam Cassell didn't get major minutes until second half of the season in the rookie year. He was a surprise to the Rox. I hope the same for Tito. Physique wise, Tito and Sam were very similar.
I'm very interested in seeing what Maddox can bring. On 610 Rudy speaks as highly about him as he does Boki. Not sure if that's good for Maddox or bad for Nachbar. I'm all for giving Maddox playing time. He's probably the only true point guard the Rockets have.
Rockets2K, I agree and remember the same thing. Tierre Brown as well. Tito had a miserable (laughable) time beating a simple half-court trap in summer camp and preseason. if that is still the case, I don't want anything to do with a PG who can't avoid being trapped unless one of the real pros gets injured. imo, if securing his dribbleis still a problem, the only reason he is on the team is to provide a PG on the practice squad to make Moochie work when Francis practices SG.
Would be nice to get to see some other guys get some PT. I like Tito on defense, but have not seen him enough to judge him really. Not that it would be any different, but didn't he have some turnover problems in the RMR and preseason.
Rudy and C.D. parked Tito on the injured list so he could learn how to handle NBA traps, presses and other defenses. I'd love to get a report card on his progress. Once he learns how to exploit those defenses, he will be a nice acquisition for the Rockets. Has the Injured Reserve's title been changed to Inactive Reserve yet?
Do any of you think that Tito may have been what Doc Rocket was referring to? Does he know that Tito figures into a rotation spot, maybe even a starter in the second half of the season. Note, I am not saying that, just wondering if Tito might be the reason that Steve may play the 2 and Mobes the 6. Maybe I'm Hardy Boy'ing this too much...
I have been pushing for Maddox since the start of the season. He only needs game experience and I feel sure that Moochie would just fade into the PINE!
I think Moochie is a good back up guard. Seeing him live, I was impressed with his quickness and speed. If he's dribbling too much that is up to the coaches to set him straight. I would like to see him remain the back up guard and use Maddox and other players to get an established point guard to start and move Steve to the 2 guard. One that we do not need to second guess if he is good or not or have to wait a few years to be good. Steve is not getting any younger and I feel the time is now. the rebuilding should be over by now and it is play off time.
A coach at the NBA level can only do so much with a player's game. If Moochie has been playing that slow dribble out the shot clock game his whole life its kind of hard to change. It kind of relates to why we traded KT. He is mainly a back to the basket, hold the ball for too long kind of player. You can't really just change that. These guys aren't all as coachable as Yao is.
