So yeah here's my story since the layoffs are done and over with, when i started my job i got to pick between 2 shifts, 6-330 or 9-6, at first 6-330 sounded great, but then i just had broken up with my ex fiance so I decided to take 9-6 since there would be alot of drinking involved during the time. every day I would always be the last to leave work and my directors and VP of the IT dept would notice it, and would come by and say have a good night to me or whatever, sometimes I would get carried away and work real late just because i had no life. Everyone here at work are really scared of the VP and Directors except for me! lol and its funny but not to brag, its just that they always greet me when i see them and they always ask how im doing as well so i feel really comfortable around them. We just went through layoffs, my whole team got layed off except for my Boss and me (farewell to my coworkers ) although i did take a big pay cut, im just grateful to have a job, now i just changed shift to 7-4 but man, 9-6 sucked but it was the greatest decision i have ever made lol TIP: Take the late shift at work, people dont notice people that are there early, actually, they hate they people that comes in early and get to leave early!! so pick the late shift people and put in extra late work once or twice a week, pretend if you have to! time to enjoy left overs lunch, and yes guys i am still broke and bring my lunch every day
He's right. I get to work 30-60 minutes before I'm supposed to and I used to leave right at 5. I was told by the secretary that my bosses were saying that I leave too early!?! What about the time that I work before everyone gets here?!? No one has said a word to me...I think they were joking around about how times have changed. Now I read Clutch Fans waiting for everyone to clear out before I leave...making sure I am the last to leave.
I used to joke at companies that nobody notices when you come in earlier than them, but they'll damn sure notice when you leave earlier than them.
well i have a job where i could be on call really all hours of the day so me staying late/coming in early has no real effect on me. obviously leaving early though does. a lot of times i will wait till 5-530pm even if i do not have anything to do just to be there. a friend of mine tends to come in right before the manager comes in and leaves late he really only work 6-7 hours a day but the manager thinks he is there all day. it never fails really and its not really slacking off but just working later gives that perception of working hard.
yep, the guy that took the 6-330 shift, bounced right when it was 330 so everyone hated him.. he got cut during the layoffs. poor guy, i never really liked him anyways. im just have to be working 7-4 now hehe
Depends on the job. If a job is production-oriented, it may not matter whether you come in or leave early/late.
