As long as it is optional, I have no problem with them leaving a spot for tipping. I feel no obligation to tip unless the service is being provided for tips.

I guess what makes me pissed is that they put it on there. Its like.... we want you to tip us for making your fast food. Ive seen it at sub places too.

Pretty soon they are going to have a tip line for buying groceries at Kroger.

It's probably just a part of the restaurant receipt software that they use. I wouldn't look too much into it.

The Arby's at Baybrook mall does this, too. Anyone expecting to get a tip from me without waiting on my table or driving my food to my house is insane, and I've worked for tips before!

I choose to assume that their credit machines are simply set up wrong. Everytime I eat at Arby's and use my debit card-- which is regularly 'cause I love Arby's-- I just put a giant 'X' in the tip spot, write the regular amount under 'total' and sign the b****. Tip? Yeah right! Get back to the curly fryer, 'tard!

If someone actually did write in a tip at a place like Arby's do you think the employees would actually see any of it?

I can't wait until the day where a parking meter has an extra slot for "tip change".

You don't have to total anything. You can just ignore it and sign away. I doubt the clerks are expecting anyone to leave a tip.

Quiznos does the same thing. Before you say that it's the way the receipt prints, Quiznos also has a 'tip jar' by the cash register.

Uh...why would I tip someone for throwing some meat on a bun and slapping in the oven?

On another topic, why does Quiznos give me 3 different receipts for 1 sandwich?

Exactly. I don't think they are expecting anything. It's just on there because they haven't taken it off. I wouldn't even think twice about it.

And what if someone actually wanted to tip?

Isnt that leaving them open to write in a tip and new total and rip you off? Ive always at least put a big zero with a line though it and copied the same total to the bottom line.

thats not true, You should cross out the tip line and write a total in all cases! I had Domino's try to steal money from me one night on a carry-out order. I left the tip blank and signed, next day I noticed in my online banking that they had added $5 to my total. I still had my copy and had to go talk to the manager to get it fixed.

If anyone does that do you all you have to do is dispute the charges and then the bank will ask for the reciept back. It's always a good thing to keep your reciepts from CC transaction in an envelope each month just in case.

If you show your copy and then they ask the place for theirs and if it doesn't match in any way shape or form you get your money back.

We get people trying to say they didn't buy stuff at our place cause they get drunk and buy everyone drinks but we send in a nice signed slip and boom they can't dispute it anymore.

They same works when your trying to make sure no one rips you off. ANd i hope they are not stupid enough to commit a federal offense and do credit card fraud lol.

ANd yes you can take off the tip from the machine but since it is a franchise i am sure they get all their stuff from the company and it's already set up and they are told not to mess with any settings and most of the managers dont have a clue how to change settngs on their systems, so it just stays like that.
