i have a dish network hd receiver but i didnt get their hd-dvr since it was another 200 upfront and for right now i am a bit strapped for cash after buying my new 61 1080p (gawd i love the thing) tv. i wanted to know if there is like a third party dvr/pvr i can get to record hi-def programming. like a box that goes between my receiver and tv. also if the box is network compatible so i could transfer anything i recorded to my pc over my network to edit and burn onto a dvd for friends or store on my pc's hard drive for archiving. i havent really had any dvr before in the past i downloaded episodes off the internet and sent them to my xbox to watch through xbmc but my xceuter chip on the xbox has died it seems
BeyondTV I beleive will do it. http://www.snapstream.com/ I'm using it and can record 4 shows simultaneously including one HDTV feed. I know it can record Dish but I'm not sure what's involved. If you check the forums, I'm sure you'll find your answer.
